SNK MV-1C Jamma + 161 in 1 games cartridge problem
« on: May 16, 2018, 03:59:30 am »
Hello guys,

I just got my SNC MVS model MV-1C + 161 in 1 games cartridge and I have a issue which I can not understand, as follow:

If I keep my cab off for a few minutes and after that I fire it on, the main menu is shown correct. If I starting a game and after I decide to go back to main menu the image is grey but, If I go back in the game, the image is back to normal!

Possible reasons:

1. Could be a voltage issue? I do't think so...
2. Could be a problem with the main PCB? I don't think so...
3. Could be a problem with the game cartridge? 90% I think yes

I hope that somebody can help me to resolve this situation.

Thank you!

P.S Here is a video to illustrate: https://we.tl/UfPhZJhEpd

I know this won't help much but I have found that some multicarts just play nicer with some Neo Geo motherboards than others.
Acceptance of Zen philosophy is marred slightly by the nagging thought that if all things are interconnected, then all things must be in some way involved with Pauly Shore.

Check voltage.?

Some 161 carts have issues, and others don’t. Most issues can be resolved if you or a friend posses soldering skills. Later carts, like the one I have, clearly resolved some issues like the cart edge connector. There’s also the knockoff of the original knockoff to worry about as well. You need to order from a reputable source. Pandora box has this issue too.

161 in general has more compatibility issues with single slots. 138 cart works better. Something to do with the bios? Ask on Neo Geo forums.

I tried different voltages (4.7; 5.00; 5.03) same issue.
I already ordered a new cartridge from another source. I'm 99,99% is the cartridge, because some games works properly.

Save up and buy the Darksoft Multi MVS , its better than the 161 in 1 in every way.
I have one and LOVE it.

every game in the 161 is set to level 8, No WindJammers, like 30 bootleg games.....

you get what you pay for :)

Woohoo! Keep an eye on the power supply too. I had issues with my 161. Adjusted voltage. Helped but still issues. Purchased new power supply. Flawless victory.
