32" Arcade Build - DC vs Marvel
« on: April 17, 2018, 04:40:55 pm »
Hey guys, just received the 32" Arcade Cabinet Kit from Game Room Solutions on Monday.  Thought I would post an unboxing video of it.  The assembly is almost done and I should have that video uploaded by sometime next week.

Haha......He's up in the top left corner of the Marquee....probably hard to find in this video if visible at all.  Here's a quick pic to hopefully satisfy!

Bit like "if IKEA made arcade machines"

No offence, fella - you enjoy it..

I'm OK with them, its not much different than converting an already build cab.

I'll read a thread and look at pictures all day, but I refuse to watch videos.

I kind of enjoy watching cab videos.  One queston, how noticeable is the seam in the artwork  where the two side pieces meet?  That's the kind of anal retentive thing that would drive me nuts.

It's not super noticeable walking up to the side of the cabinet, but like anything, if you put it together, you'll know it's there.  I thought it would bother me more than it does, but we're usually more focused on playing games :)

You know I felt kind of the same way before I bought the bartop, and once I got it and put it together I was pretty impressed with how sturdy it was.  Originally i was going to reinforce it with glue and some brad nails, but feel it's not necessary.  Where this thing excels is in the precision of all the cuts, vents, etc....

Anyways, if you enjoy watching videos  ::) here is the finished arcade.  Let me know if you have any questions, or want to see some specific close up pictures, I would be happy to oblige.

Hi, thanks for sharing your unboxing and build videos.  I've been going back and forth between eyeing the 32" cabinet kit and attempting to design my own for a while now.  I'm leaning toward the kit and I was curious about your experience with it.

One thing I'm curious about is how the raspberry pi, controls, and the monitor perform together?  I have a raspberry pi with some 8bitdo controllers connected to my TV and I notice considerable input lag on some games and I'm not sure if it's due to the performance of the raspberry pi, the controllers, or the tv I'm using.

I'm also torn between the different control panel options.  I'd love to have a dedicated 4-way but I worry that will make the control panel too busy.  Track ball and spinner options could also be awesome for some games.  I noticed the way you have the encoder mounted to the under side of the top of the control panel and it got me thinking, would it be possible to have a second control panel top wired like you have and just swap them out depending on the game you want to play?  Is it just the 6 screws on those hinges that hold the top of the control panel in place?  I wonder if I could come up with an easy way to swap the control panel top into place and just have to plug in the USB from the encoder to be able to swap them out easily.  Do you think that would be possible?
