Has anyone had any luck using a local CNC business?

I’m going to be making an “air craft carrier” CP, and I’d love to get it professionally done but prices I’ve seen are extremely high and shipping is pretty bad too.

Has anyone had any luck working with a local company?  If so, did you just call them up and ask for a quote?

I’m just north of Milwaukee, WI on an off chance someone lives around there that has had luck.

I worked with a local sign making company in my area (Kansas City) to have parts cut for my last machine. I had to give them a PDF version of the parts I needed and they gave me a quote off that. I don't remember it being too bad. I did supply the material (Trupan ultra light MDF) for them, so the cost was just the labor to cut the pieces. They turned out very nice and saved me a ton of effort to cut them out myself plus trying to clean up that nasty MDF dust. Highly recommended if you can find someone that is reasonable to do it. Another possible option for you would be this place: https://milwaukeemakerspace.org/ We have a similar outfit by us. Basically it's a full service workshop that you can pay to use. Typically there are "regulars" there that can help you to setup and use the CNC. Or they might even cut the pieces for you for the right price. Good luck!

I just was told about this last night on Facebook too!  That’s is my plan!
