Yes, this is a really weird announcement.

Did Sega themselves do this...or did they licence it to someone else and said they did it.

It already looks like a cheap knockoff because they couldn't be bothered to put the "Genesis" or "Mega Drive" logo on top.

Hell, they didn't even put the SEGA logo on top.  :lol
If you can read this, it means Photobucket's money grab ruined my signature photos.

same garbage atGames hardware.

seriously, just hire nintendo to make the really real megadrive mini. the (S)NES mini hardware is more than capable, just needs a Genesis/Megadrive mold and some 6 button sega mini controllers, maybe add a bigger flash drive and put a couple MegaCD and 32X games on it.

I'd buy it despite owning a SNES mini that can play all the sega games, if only for genesis style controllers.
If you're replying to a troll you are part of the problem.
I also need to follow this advice. Ignore or report, don't reply.

There’s one dude working on fixing the Genesis Mini.  He has the annoyances ironed out.... still waiting on a release.

At $30 it’s fun, it Ain’t worth $80.

If he actually fixes it I might go your route and buy a goodwill one.  Maybe he can fix the 2600 hd gold as well, which I'm told is also a disaster in terms of the software.
