Honestly though if you feel that the oven is getting old it might just be worth it to get a new one. I just had to get a dryer after I spent nearly 100 bucks on parts only to determine that the actual part I would need to replace is around 200 bucks. Totally not worth it at that point unless you are REALLY trying tin pinch pennies. --- End quote --- ^ Yeah if its not a internal fuse its probably the stat. |

I ended up finding a great video on YouTube. Basically telling you to test the thermostat (which I did) and the element (which I did) to confirm they are both working. I used my multi meter and was able to confirm both things work. Essentially per the video you test the voltage that comes in, then the voltage making its way to the Electronic Control Board (I forgot what the part was called). From there you trace it back to see if the voltage is making it's way from there to the element. With hosting Easter dinner today I was not able to complete all testing. I'm hoping to get to it tomorrow. For now though I'm online looking for a replacement stove. |

I agree with the other guys. If you can afford it, buy a new one. I have found that once appliances get old and they start to give trouble, it's a sign. My stove has 4 burners on top. One day a while back I was boiling a pot of spaghetti and the element blew apart like a firecracker. Sparks flew everywhere and so did water, cause it blew a small hole into the pan. Later I swapped the element with same sized working one and it would not come on, so I know it blew the control too. So I need to take my own advice myself and get a new one, even though 3 out of the 4 burners work fine, as does the oven. Still theres that nagging feeling that another one could blow, maybe with more serious consequences (fire). |

I agree, I'll be looking for a new one. I recently purchased a new bake element, that cost me $70. I also have an issue with one of the burners, it does not work on the large setting. So when you figure replace the burner, fix the current issue + $70 for the bake element.......... not worth it. Scrap it, buy a new one. I'd buy the same brand, and honestly I'll take all the parts I can from this one. Even if I sell them.........which I see tons of people do locally. I realize now why one time I put my old vacuum out on the curb, only to wake up in the morning and find it cannibalized. Funny though............last week, after I had the range issue I was driving in my area and I saw a same brand range curbside. I could not bring myself to go take any parts off, had I seen the homeowner outside I would have asked. Potentially it could have had a working control board. |
