FAST BEAT LOOP RACER GT - arcade game port coming to Steam
« on: March 30, 2018, 04:04:49 am »
Just noticed this seems to be a slightly older arcade game coming to Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/633110/FAST_BEAT_LOOP_RACER_GT__GT/

Looks like it could be worth a punt if the price is right. Looks very Wangan like, but from the video it seems like you're racing against more than just one other opponent though, which is good.

Edit: Those system requirements seem a bit overkill for a 2011 arcade title. i5 as a minimum?

Its a little hard to tell from the videos on steam. But from looking at some videos of the arcade machine, it looks faster paced than Wangan and also the drifting looks better to me. Looking forward to check it out!

I'm not a big Wangan or initial D fan so hopefully this will offer something a little different.

Looks similar to another arcade racer I shared on here a while back. Regardless this is day one for me. Looks absolutely badass! Now bring out the Wangan games to Steam complete with online mp and I'm good!  ;)

Do you remember the name of the other one?

And was it available for PC or consoles?

Cant remember the name but it's actual arcade "Chinese" racer, no pc or console port yet. If someone finds a link to the thread I made please post it here.

More and more companies are putting min spec to be running the game at 1080p on high and getting 60FPS. I reckon it's to do with legal advice.

The game is out now for $9-10. Would be curious to see others reactions while I'm out of the country traveling.

Supposedly the game has no steering wheel support whatsoever. If that's true then SMFH.

I picked this up for $9 but haven't had a chance to take it for a spin /pun
Today is my rest day from cab building so I'll give it a shot. I'll be using an XB1 controller to play.

For anyone who has purchased this, can you please tell me if this game supports system link/LAN for local two player races?  Or is multiplayer online only?  I would be appreciative of any information. Thanks!

Thanks for the quick reply.  I was afraid the answer would be online only.  That's a shame, system link multiplayer would last forever.  Crazy that PC racing games that came out 20 years ago, like Sega Rally and Daytona, had LAN play but it's so rare nowadays.   :dunno

Regarding the problem with the wheel deadzone, if you've got a wheel that allows you to configure how many degrees the wheel rotates (eg: Fanatec CSR) set it to 120 degrees. It works pretty well with that setting.

Not sure if developers will ever fix it properly but at least one can control de car pretty well and have force feedback with that setting. Much better than with a controller...

Don't bother with this game if you want to play with a wheel mate. Everyone has their opinion and it's cool if you like it, but I don't and submitted my request for a refund. I just played it and to me it's trash. Yes technically I *CAN* steer the car with my wheel, and yes I was getting rumble, but the steering is so bad and the so-called FFB is laughable.  It basically feels like you're playing using the X360CE program where it's emulating the 360 pad rather than acknowledging you have an actual steering wheel. Plus the deadzone makes it worse. It basically feels like a cheap indie game made from a guy who's a big Wangan fan  :lol

Furthermore the graphics aren't too hot and the options are very limited. No AA or AF settings at all. Sorry  I know some of you guys like it but it aint my cup of tea.

Played Wangan Midnight 5 in TP just now for the first time and it blows this Fast Loop game to oblivion. I mean, why settle for a cheap imitation when you can enjoy the real thing?   :burgerking:

If it wasnt $9 I'd probably refund it too, but Im gonna keep it. It is another game to play on the racing cab after all lol.

while I agree that obviously the game isnt quite as good as wmmt5 i would argue the ffb isnt as bad as you say it is, i mean im getting full force feedback and didnt think the effects were bad at all, actually quite good.

and graphics are pretty much the same as wmmt5, both were released around similar time in arcades so not sure why you say that

If they fix the deadzone issue then it's fine in my opinion, especially for $9-10

well everyone's steering wheels and settings are different, and I admit I probably didn't spend enough time with it to form a valid opinion, but what little time I did spend with it was enough for me to know I'll probably never get into it anyway. If they do address the deadzone however, I *might* look into re-buying it again just to see how different it feels. I also just read that plenty of people are finding it almost impossible to find an online game for whatever reason, and when they do it just disconnects. Hopefully they address all these issues.

No need to defend yourself, you didn't like, you got a refund. That's what they are for :)

My only gripes are it open crashed the first time, NBD. It defaults to Chinese and requires a restart to change languages. It defaults to Windowed mode, and requires a restart to change. Even in full screen it had a title bar across the top. The title bar I hope they fix, its very jarring.

Plays fine with an XB1 controller, but I'll probably hook up my Fanatec Wheel and see how it plays with that.  I'm sure it'll play fine in my racing cab project, since one is a hacked 360 controller, and the other is going to run on an immersion board.

got a deadzone fix that Ducon2016 coded up for me and ill update it for each version until hopefully the devs implement a fix for us wheel users. Just let me know if game gets patched if I haven't updated.

Thanks for those fixes guys, I'll try to give it a go in the coming days.

Sorry, what is the difference between both versions? ie, what is the 'launch version of the game'? or what is the other possible version?

Just the up to date steam version. Every time the game gets updated on steam the memory addresses will change

I see, I was misunderstanding the word 'launch' in that context. I had not realised they release an update, thanks.

The updated version worked perfectly... thanks for this fix!, I was trying to workaround the issue by changing the wheel degrees but it was not the same, as I had to reduce it to 120 to make it playable. I can now double that and still working fine. Thanks!

Hello,

I picked this up for € 5 to try it on my last driving cab.
I tried to adjust the bad deadzone with the logitech control panel with no luck...

Please, can someone re-upload this deadzone fix ?

Thanks
