Looking for Xbox One to USB Joystick Interface
« on: March 08, 2018, 10:42:47 am »
I've seen this sort of thing for the 360 back in the day where you can basically make your own joysticks that will work with the 360. Has something like this been developed for the Xbox One?

I don't think anybody has made an Xbox one encoder board yet. But there are a couple options. You could pad hack a couple Xbox one controllers like this guy does here. Keep in mind that you can only play games that use the d-pad for controls, so you will be limited to mostly fighting games and maybe some platformers. This is why a PC is usually a better choice as its much more flexible. But anyway.

The other option is one of these adapters.

You could either take an existing joystick for 360 or PS3 and use the adapter, or maybe find an xbox 360 encoder and use the adapter. Personally I like that Pad hack method mentioned above better, using real hardware is always better than encoders in my opinion.

I'm wanting to make a custom joystick for the XOne I figured an encoder would be the easiest. When I did it for the 360 I had to hack a controller like the one you mentioned. I'd rather not have to do that as it's more expensive, but it may be the only choice.

Thank you for the info!

Its not always more expensive. Some encoders are very expensive. You don't have to use an official Microsoft controller either, in fact I don't think Microsoft even makes an official wired controller, you can always use a 3rd party controller as long as it has decent reviews. I think Amazon actually makes their own XBONE controller believe it or not. The 3rd party controllers are often waaaaay easier to hack too. I think Microsoft likes making it slightly difficult for modders, that's why the official controllers always have one little thing that makes then just a little more difficult to hack.
