Oké nearly a year later and the cab is almost done. After I bought a new monitor and installed it, my computer started to ackt weird. Long boot times, errors in windows, not getting past the bios. Tried to find a new cheap replacement, but prices for spare parts are so high I might as well buy a new cpu, mainboard and ram. Then I got a hp core i5 760 from a friend for free, and I thought I was back in business. Sadly ho uses it’s own mainboards with non atx plugs, so I couldn’t use my powersupply that I already installed in my cab. But swapping everything out eventually wasn’t a option because the hp powersupply didn’t have 2 6 pin connectors I needed for my graphics card.
So I started taking my mainboard out of the cab to reseat the cpu because I handled the mainboard by holding the big mugen cooler. I reseated the mainboard in my cab using only 3 screws so I could swap it out fast if I needed. Connecting only the graphics card and no drives, it started at once. So I thought I had fixed the issue. Reinstalled the mainboard again using all 9 screws, connecting everything up and.... NO BOOT?
Then I shifted my attention to the board spacers I used. I used a template to drill them into the bottom, but they had a bit to much clearance. So I then suspect that the motherboard standoffs shorted a few pins on the bottom of the mainboard. So I bought plastic o-rings to place between the standoffs and the mainboard and it finally works.
Only thing I need to do now is to order the graphics for the marquee.
