My first build
« on: February 17, 2018, 01:37:39 pm »
After years of wanting to build one, i finally started building my first cabinet.
It is loosly based upon the weecade, but it has a deeper body, since i wanted to fit in my old full size atx board.
I custom designed the control panel using a sheet of aluminium that i bend using a home made bending tool.
Then i downloaded some button plans and started playing with the layout. I decided to use the Sega layout for the left player and the namco layout for player 2.this way your body is turned away from the other player creating more space.
Iím not a skilled woodworker, but i think i did a nice job. Next step is to place my monitor that i want to swivel.
First i thought it wouldnít make a lot of difference, but once i played vertical shooters with the monitor in vertical position, i couldnít go back. So i had to adopt my design a bit to accomodate the bigger swivel monitor that i bought yesterday for 5 euro.

By swivel, I assume you are rotating?  What mechanism are you using?  Love that CP!

Going to use parts of the stand from my hp 1955 monitor. Going to manually rotate it, until i know how to automate it.

Add the monitor today. But i think i need to lean it back a bit more. Itía to streep now when standing behind the controls.

Have been working on my cab for the past weeks and iím Getting there.
Still need some new plexi for my bezel. The part I had wasnít big enough.
Also need to paint the cab. I fitted my pc inside, using the mainbord tray from the old pc.
Need to secure the power supply. Made a hard disk tray using some plexi.
After painting I can start doing some cable management. I have a buzzing sound going trough the speakers. Most likely some static the audio cable pics up from bad cable management.
Also need to make a back door and add some fans to cool the system.
Added some locks to you cannot open the controlpanel.
And I need to add a power socket to the back.

Very Cool! Keep up the good work! Like the rotating monitor!
