name controller id- act lab lightguns
« on: February 15, 2018, 12:16:59 pm »
hi all,

i have successfully set up the mane ctrl file so that my sticks, trackball and spinners always stay the same.  but i am having issues with my act lab guns.  thing is, windows reports the same hardware is for both of them so name gets confused.

any thoughts on what i can do?  if i plug one of them into a a different usb, say an added usb card, will that report a different hardware id?

thanks for reading

I had a similar problem with my hyperspin cab. Windows kept changing the device ids. I have two aimtracks, a spinner and a trackball.  I also use a usb hub to plug everything in. Everything should have it’s own unique ID in windows.  I use two aimtrack guns and in the aimtrack utility I made the 2nd gun a joystick input which solved this.

Not sure if this will work with your setup. What system are you using?

using HS also.  windows sees both actlab gums with the same exact hardware id.  can you see if windows does the same with your aim tracks?

Hi, sorry for late reply. Notifications aren’t working...
You need to use a raw input version of mame or your guns will show up as the same device eg both guns will show up as mouse x or mouse x1 for example.

Direct input versions are no good for this,  however I had the device I’d changing problem, so I reverted back to direct input version and made the second gun a joystick input. This works fine for the aimtracks but not sure about your guns.    I’d get a raw input version of mame and try that. Should work fine.

Hope that helps.
