Turbotwist 2 - were the old spinner knobs this big?!
« on: February 03, 2018, 02:10:10 pm »
Hey everyone,

I bought a Turbotwist 2 which arrived yesterday. It works great and all.

I got one of the aluminum knobs (the black inset), and it just looks and feels kinda big to me. Now, I haven't played an old Arkanoid or Tempest machine in ages, so memory could be off. But were the original spinners this BIG?

GGG doesn't list specific knob sizes, but from pics it looks like the plain default knob is actually smaller diameter, not sure about any of the others.

Thoughts?

Thank you.

The knob I have from GGG is 40mm diameter, so I'm right. A lot bigger.

I wonder why they made them so big?! I really would like to get a 30mm one instead. :-/

Anyone have any of the other GGG knobs? Are any of them smaller?

(I also wonder about the non-metal ones, since someone here is prone to cold parasthesia when touching cold metal, but that's another issue completely.)

I emailed GGG, and politely asked if I can buy another smaller knob by itself. Seems like they only sell the big premium metal ones alone, but hoping they can help me out.

Arkanoid knobs were the same size of the TT2, if not bigger. It’s not like there was a standard size.

I bought my Tempest cab from Arcade Adventures. He is a twenty minute drive from my house.

Randy @ GGG is very helpful and I will be buying a Tempest style knob made of plastic. It's all good.

Can that knob be fitted on TT2? I was gonna order Black Inset but just read it's much bigger than the original Tempest knob. I really dislike the size of "Big Blue" knobs
