Not bad for the first try, but your post is missing something, namely the name of the ROM, the name of the parent ROM (if needed), the controls, a short description of the gameplay, a link to the wiki and of course the date of the deadline (sunday after next sunday, midnight pacific time). The easiest way is to copy a previous thread (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,156318.msg1642458.html#msg1642458) and just modify that.

What a strange game. It's a nice feel, after galaxian, to have unlimited bullets on the screen.

So, for clarification, rom "pleiads" is not allowed in this comp, correct?

Quote from High Score Competition #81: Pleiads (Pleiades)  (they used the 'pleiadce' ROM)

This one's harder than the parent set.

So that would be a yes.

While we are at it: How do you set the extra lives to 3k/30k? My pleiadce version for MAME .161 lets me start at 7k/70k, while the parent ROM (pleiads) starts at 3k/30k.

Another point: There seems to be a kind of exploit to rack up points by shooting big enemies repeatedly in the wings while they can't hurt you. Can we agree on not doing that?

I guess I really created a mess. I was using my machine settings. It is a Centuri board. It is labeled and numbered. The cabinet is also labeled and numbered on the inside and the outside. It is set to 3K and 30K. The dip switches allow other settings. I guess let's use pleiadce set at 7k/70k. I will play on my MAME machine because I am not sure my dedicated machine matches up to this ROM set.

Hmm... I don't have the Centuri rom to test. But the Tehkan rom only lets you have one shot at a time. Might explain the 7k/70k bonus ships. :dunno

THe centuri rom allows 2 shots at a time where the parent rom as you mention only allows 1 on screen at a time - haven't seen one that allows unlimited. - Also think the ships and bullets on the centuri rom move faster than the parent rom which might be why they added the second bullet to offset.

Hmm... I might have to dig around some old hard drives for the centuri rom. Think I compiled a rom list with no child roms back in the day... which is why I have puckman...

You do understand the point of a high score comp... don't you? >:D

Let's see... 2015 I had as many points as the champ in the highscore challenge, 2016 I was champ and 2017 I could have easily been champ too. Nope, I don't understand it  >:D

Seriously though, exploiting the game is just way too boring. I wouldn't play this at all if it wasn't for the challenge, so I don't need things added that make the game even less likeable.

It might not have been unlimited.  It probably just felt like it after galaxian.  I only played two or three rounds, so i was trying to figure out what was going on.

The parent rom is actually very similar to Galaxian - you only get 1 shot until it leaves the screen or hits something - the Centuri rom gives you 2 shots until 1 leaves or hits so when things like the mother ship are on screen it almost seems unlimited since the mothership is hit rapidly so you can keep shooting things under it and seem to have unlimited shots on screen.

And as a bonus, i picked up two cabs for a friend.  The photos online didn't show any side art, but when we picked them up, we found this!

I love this game. I'm glad we started over, because I probably wouldn't have tried this one, otherwise.

It was bad timing for me. I had just finished capping my Pleiades monitor, and I just didn't get around to shoving it back in the cabinet until yesterday afternoon. I was going to fire it up on MAME earlier in the week, but life kind of got in the way. I will be in on the next game.

It's all about not dying in stages 1,2 and 4 and shooting all the exhaust ports in stage 3. Took a while to get the hang of it.
