Maximus arcade issues after migrating to new install of Win 10

Maximus was not working after I upgraded my PC and reinstalled Win 10 and MAME .194 (full split set).

After doing the following
- I did the first two items on link ("Path to media" to "long" in the preference, choose MAME game descriptions are gathered from "mame.dat” file) http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,148682.0.html
- I could not find gameslist.xml so didn't do the edits
- I installed stand alone flash (microsoft edge no longer needs it)
- I removed all emulators, and re-added mame

Now it mostly works on my mame .194 full romset.

What doesn’t work:
- Does not filter for clones
- When exiting game, takes from 3 to 60 seconds - Average closer to 20 (on an I3 3.6 ghz 4core) to redisplay menu; something isn’t working with exit scripts.  I see some window briefly.  After 3-60 seconds the menu displays again, and I can choose another game (or same).  MameUI takes about a second ALWAYS to exit.

Would appreciate advice to at least fix the exit issue to make SW usable.
