Never been to Disney World (or East Coast America for that matter).  But Disney Land is great, especially California Adventure.  Love being able to drink while waiting in line for the rides.

I been to Fiesta Texas. The lazy river was a madhouse.

Never did the water park.  I actually went once before it was owned by Six Flags.  All that I remember is that was very heavy on song and dance shows and very light on rides.  Thankfully Six Flags fixed that ratio.  Also, the ENTIRE place shuts down if it rains.  Don't be fooled into buying admission anyway.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and it was at Fiesta Texas on Three Kings Day 2008 that I had to be compressed into a ride.  Right on the heels of my wife taking a biology of obesity graduate course.  The beginning of the end of my fat, drunk, and stupid phase.  RIP.   :'(

Disney sucks. Go to Universal Studios.

Already planned in for a couple of nights halloween horror :)  The only part of Disney I look forward to is the Food and Wine Festival over in Epcot,  I do love drinking my way round the world :)

Ok how about Busch Gardens?  They have a good park as well.  tbh though I can't think of a single good park that doesn't have crazy long lines, Disney included.
Yep going over to Busch, gonna do their howl and scream,  front of line pass so don't care too much about the queues, booked a hotel over the road for the night coz I'll probably have too much to drink whilst there too,  may actually have the balls to go on Sheikra in the dark this year, Cheetah run was bad enough after a few last year.

One cool thing about living where there is a lot of German heritage is that they start the Oktoberfests early so they aren't all on the same weekend.

I needed a new external for my xbox and for once in my life the stars aligned and they had a sale when I needed something.  Picked up a 1TB WD passport for 25 bucks at Office Max.  It's a weird sale... in store only and not even the managers knew about it.  I guess it's where the box has "for mac" branding.  Transferring games now and I'll now have enough room to install my xbox/xb360 games.... so I'm chuffed about that.

So turns out IDE cables are kinda rare and expensive now.

I redid an IDE hard drive cable tonight. Pulled one out of a 15 year old PC in a scrap pile. Had to remove, flip, and reclamp one of the connectors. Been a good 10 years or so...

But now my original Xbox has an ATA 100 cable in it and appears to be booting more reliably for now.

Bucky OHare was another weird one...

I like that one, the art is fantastic all around, and the shooting works because the pace of the game is pretty quick.
I also like the NES version, even though it’s a completely different game. Tough as nails though.

Do you test continuity for your cables? Or just wing it? I plug mine into headers and test each pin one by one with it’s neighbouring pins. It’s tedious and perhaps there’s an easier way, but I’m paranoid about my crimps being off.

The NES version continues the fine Nintendo tradition of being nothing like the arcade game.

Yes, it's quick.  I couldn't quite ever figure out where my character's hit box was.  The voice recordings are hilariously bad... pretty sure it was the programmers doing the voices at their desk.  You even get a nice loud pop when the mic cuts off at the end of their lines.  A couple of the characters seemed professionally done, though.  I guess it gets the job done but when you compare it to Simpsons or X-Men it's definitely a step down.

And here I was all proud of myself for clamping it in a vise instead of going side to side with a pair of pliers like back in the old days.  Dude, crimp and test it by plugging it in.  The pin layout is such that it's fry proof.

Yeah, I still clamp them with a pair of pliers. Which is why I am paranoid about the pins shorting. But maybe you're right, I should just roll with it and see if it works or not.

Xbox working flawless with that new cable.

Played through Brute Force. Simultaneously awesome and terrible. No ending and it steals your lives when you finish it.

The house felt cold in Pennsylvania this morning so I looked at the temperature on the thermostat (which is turned off).
65 degrees.  Somehow in a few months I'll consider that a warm house instead of a chilly one.

I've yet to turn off my AC.  It's set at 80...  Though this hurricane that is pushing into AZ should drop temps a bit.

I'm not sure if it's my thyroid problems or the Synthroid medication itself, but I'm hot almost all the time now.  AC is still at max most of the time and I still manage to sweat like a pig.  Getting old is a pain in the ass.  Anyway, yeah, my bill is generally high as well.

They remade wonder boy 3, which is the best 8 bit game you never played. Got it rocking on a Crt.

I can't tell if I like the new art style of the Wonder Boy remake or the old one better from what I've seen in the pics. For some reason the new style reminds me of those "story" games that have beautifully drawn scenes, but don't really involve actual gameplay.

For the most part, the new art works well.  You can toggle back and forth to the old sprites instantly in game, which I find myself doing periodically to make sure I'm not overlooking something.  The original game holds up very well, IMO, and the remake gives you some gentle hints by providing more info about the armor/weapons and their respective abilities.  This must have been in the manual originally because this is one I actually beat back in the day.

Very chuffed to have scored this 27" CRT TV off of the curbside.  I'm working towards the "PBJ Dumpster Diver" award.  I know there is no such award, but there should be  8)  It has RGB component input into which I fed it some test video.

So 27" is at the limits of the largest equivalent arcade monitors ever made I believe.  This unit has a clean sharp image, although if I'm picky there are some convergence errors towards the outer edges.  I ran a DVD THX test calibration video to see more clearly.  You can see some warping of the image in some areas:

edge convergence errors

Is it difficult to tweak these CRTs for picture symmetry and convergence?  I have plans for this CRT into a future project.

Finally got my favorite Pearl Jam poster framed.  I'm quite pleased.

I bought the poster as the show on May 21, 2010 at MSG (notice the high score) and the setlist was awesome.  Coincidentally my youngest daughter was born on the same day 2 years later so the poster has even more meaning to us.  Looks great in the basement with some other concert posters and arcade cabs.

Nice framing and matting on both of those. Did you do it yourself or have it done?

I had it done at Michael's.  They send me 70% off coupons like 5 times a week it seems so over the last 12 months I've been putting them to good use.  I have one more to go (Camden, 2006) and all of our PJ souvenirs will be framed.  The wife and I see them pretty much whenever they come to NYC (or Philly and sometimes Boston).  I don't have a poster for each show we have been to - they are very hard to get because they print a limited amount and then they sell out immediately.  Usually you have to decide whether to go in early or tailgate for another hour and that decision is always made on the spot and depends on the number of beers I've had at that point :)

It's a bit mental but whatever - good memories.  I do have other stuff planned to hang on the walls (there is a MSG Radiohead poster down there already).  Movie posters are in the works for Star Wars, Back to the Future and Goonies (the kids voted and I approve!).

I've been very reluctant to bring up the NFL this year.  Primarily because the Cowboys are lousy with no end in sight, but also because what I used to call society's secular glue has become political.  Oh well, Aggies are looking better.

NY Giants are the highest scoring team in the NFC East this year!  Watch out.
