Nice. I don't follow baseball anymore, but a day at the ballpark is still awesome.

Today while driving around on my job I spied a rear projection tv put out for hard rubbish collection.  I want the parts out of one of these for my projects.  I hope its there tonight when I drive around with my trailer.  Chuffed if I score it intact.

I'm going to salvage various parts from the projector TV.  Mainly the screen and some of the optics.  The projectors in them were rubbish so not interested in them even if they work.

I want to cut up the screen and use part of it for a table top gaming platform.  Some small parts will go into my RoToron project also.   The unit is just on the curb with some other junk at the front of someones place.   The raid is on for tonight, I'll dress in black and approach with headlights off.

Then I'll knock on the door and politely ask if I can cart it away  :lol  Wish me luck.

That class lasted 4 hours and there was no end in sight to the beer samples.

10:30pm.... "Who wants to crack open a 7 year old semi-dry mead?"  ---maternal-smurf---, you know every single one of us wants you to open that bottle.

It was an interesting dilemma.  Nobody had eaten dinner because how long could this class possibly take.  Yet there's a counter covered in craft beer.  But now it's 11pm.

 :dunno

So, I am not sure what "Chuffy" means, but this thread sure is positive! I'll give it a try:

My 3rd son was born (my poor wife is very outnumbered) and I got to drop my first son off at is very first day of school. That was great.

We had a blast at the wife's 27th birthday party. Got to see a lot of old friends I had not seen in a while.

I got some new tools for the shop including a brand new Powermatic 8" 2HP jointer with a helical cutterhead and parallelogram table. This beast has an 82" bed and weighs 600lbs! It was not fun muscling it off the pallet and onto the mobile base by myself by hand (I don't have a forklift or hoist or anything). Good thing I have been hitting the gym pretty hard. But boy does it run like a dream.

At my job, 3 people on our small team quit at the same time. I was able to turn that in my favor and got a promotion and a nice 20% raise (though it is actually less because I went up a tax bracket... 28% tax sure looks like a lot on paper). I also get to hire a few more people.

I started a new arcade project. We'll see if this one actually gets built. I think I enjoy designing cabs as much as I enjoy building them.

I added a few new pieces to my Zelda/Nintendo collection. Nothing rare or exciting, but I love them.

I also added a few new rifles to the armory. I basically stole a brand new LWRC M6A2 for $1300 (these older models were hand made in the USA). It is the DEA edition too. It has a pretty sweet short-stroke piston system. I threw a Leopold LCO red dot sight on it and it shoots like a dream - especially for the price.

The wife and I finally got our LTCs (license to carry). The class was actually pretty fun. Plus, my stainless Springfield 1911 caught some attention at the range during the marksmanship test .

Also, it sounds like there are some homebrewers on here. My last batch of IPA was troublesome... it turned out decent and alcoholic... so not all bad! ;D

IPA? Why don't you just drink a Natural Light, piss in a bottle, drink the piss, and piss that out into a bottle. You will still have a better beer than any IPA. That crap is a crime against beer.

I wonder if you are a supertaster. That's a real thing (for real). Supertasters usually no not like IPAs. My older brother says they taste like licking a pine tree.

I like pretty much all beer except the in-between styles like pilsners.

You probably hate cilantro, too.

Anyway, apparently IPAs, double IPAs, sours, and hazy wheat ipas are old and busted and brut ipa is the new hotness.  Houston has so many breweries now it's unbelievable and this whole thing is going to crash and burn hard.

But, hey.  $12.50 a class, why the hell not.

Austin is the same. There are 3 breweries on the street that I work on (and another opening soon) and about 6 within a few blocks. I don't think anything is going to "crash and burn", but the space is defiantly very competitive so you see small breweries pop up and fail pretty quickly and often. Maybe if the demand for craft beer falls, but that seems unlikely (unless you think it's just a fad?)

Hmm, a cilantro beer eh? Oh my it exists: https://untappd.com/b/westfax-brewing-company-cilantro-lime-ale/2117459

I hear you man. I'll drink anything except sours. Now THAT is a crap is a crime against beer.

The happy hours at brewpubs around here have been getting cheaper because of the competition.
The oldest brewpub has some of their staple beers for $1.75/pint 4-7pm on weekdays.

Two or three of them have moved onto making liquor, but it all sucks because none of it is aged.

Give me Belgian anything, including Blue Moon.

New Belgium's Fat Tire (belgian-style ale) is one of my go-to beers. I love almost everything New Belgium makes. One of my favorite breweries.

Fat Tire was good but they got cheap or changed ingredients or something.

And, yes, craft beer is a total fad.  How many martini and cigar bars you seeing nowadays?  That ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- was everywhere 10-12 years ago.  Enjoy it while it lasts, all it's going to take is chubby girls cutting carbs out of our diets again to kill it.

Hmm. Maybe it's not coincidence that craft beer become popular around the same time as "dad bods". :lol

At least one of the reasons cigar bars are not around anymore is because they not allowed (at least in Austin). Can't smoke anywhere that is open to the public unless you are grandfathered in (yes even on private property). ::) That said, there are still a good number of cigar rollers and clubs in Austin.

We need to figure out how to get rid of some of these ridiculous laws governing smoking and alcohol sales.

Culture is dictated by women under 25, once they all cycle back to Atkins it's over.  Enjoy those craft beers and fried food over French fries food trucks while you still can.

the only thing I remember about the game besides all the wild scrolling, was the Venom fight, which was epic at the time cause you were fighting some other boss at the same time (lizard? green goblin? been too long)

Didnt your health also count down ala Gauntlet?

Health continuously counts down, there are no weapons to pick up, your super attack drains health but does not stop bosses doing an attack, you basically fight nothing but Shy Guys, sound effects are awful.

It's a shame because the art is really cool.  Oh well, at least it's scratched off the list now.

Don't ask me why but I love this type of game.  The whole FF, TMNT, XMen, yadda yadda.  Just found out the other day they made one that was based on Alien vs Predator.  Mind numbing, side scrolling violence.

Alien Vs Predator is probably the best one.
