Hi everybody!

Oh my holy cats has it been busy, but kinda super chuffy too. I'm settling into my new job as the director of communications for The Old Guard, 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment. Tomb Guards, Honor Guard, Fife and Drum Corps, Caisson, Drill Team, all those awesome specialty units are my bread and butter now. Moved into a new house, getting things squared away here. Have a proper basement and game rooming it up in style, slowly but Shirley. I also have a box of parts and pieces from IDS str8 out of Canada to start working on Space Base again. Kinda strapped for time, but as things settle down here in VA I'll start projecting again. Have my eye on adding some form of shooter to the line-up, and a vertical shooter cabaret - but not until I clear out my Xenon and get SB functional.

It's been a helluva a last six months but I think my feet are starting to get underneath me, the first few months were super un-chuffy as the wife was on the ropes for a bit with her health, but things are looking up. I might even be around this wretched hive of scum and villainy more often. Who can say? At any rate, if you don't follow The Old Guard on all your social medias, you should, because they rock. That is all.

...the first few months were super un-chuffy as the wife was on the ropes for a bit with her health...

Sorry to hear about your wife Chuckles.  I can completely understand.  Its a daily occurrence with my wife.  It sucks to see someone you love go through health issues.  Its good to hear she is feeling better.  To add to the unchuffiness I was told that I had to be in Cincinnati yesterday at 5:30 pm before I left work.  So here I am today through the weekend to 'save' one of our jobs which is on the night shift.     So I apologize to anyone who has bought something from me in my FS thread I will be starting to ship on Monday when I get back home.  But I will try to keep up with who wants what during the day since I know I wont be sleeping.  Okay enough of being a Debbie Downer.  On to the chuffy!

My little girl turned 4 on Monday.  She makes everyday an awesome, unpredictable, adventure.  I also went to my first CNC class on Tuesday.  Learned how to use VCarve and a Shopbot CNC machine.  I made the stool pictured below.  Not much to look at but it gets me one step closer in using a CNC machine to create my upright Star Wars cab.  Im also heading up North next weekend to Torch Lake to camp next Friday so thats good.  That will more than make up for having to work this weekend.

V Carve Pro is the way to go. It is really easy to use and produces great results.

Yup.  I won a free shopbot class at the factory a couple years ago.  Didn't get to cut it out, but learned enough vcarve in one day to design an arcade control panel.
Easy peasy for 2D, stepped 2.5D and lettering.  The class was full of cool people who made a crazy wide variety of things for a living.

I would like to get Aspire some day to do 3D stuff, but I can't justify the price tag. Maybe after I build my 4x4 CNC machine.

If you ever need something CNC cut, come on down. I am 65 miles north west of Chicago.

I have a 60 Watt CO2 laser with a 12x17 inch work area.

I have a CNC machine with a 24x12 inch work area. With indexing the 12 inch axis can be much longer.

I have bourbon and beer.

Yeah the class I took last night the kid was kinda scatter brained.  There is a guy thats older that works at Factory Two who seems to know what he is doing so I am going to pick his brain.  I think the kid told me he only had 30 hours of cutting time which is not a lot.  My other problem is I have to find out how to make tool paths for the Star Wars upright cab because the VCarve file I have does not contain them.

Shoot me the vcarve file if you like. I am no expert, but I can take a look at it. I will PM you my email address.

I'd be chuffy if someone can explain to me what the joke Drake said in the Star Trek thread , and how it was funny.
If you're replying to a troll you are part of the problem.
I also need to follow this advice. Ignore or report, don't reply.

I think Drake thought Yots was Indian and and not El Cabron.  Or Primo Hefe.

Hey mal,

You know how you guys get when you feel threatened, and I don't explain jokes as a rule anyway, so I, for one, will not directly answer your question.

I will make a suggestion, however, which might help both you and the others. It's a great big world with billions of people, and you're going to find that not everyone's sense of humor aligns with yours. My advice is to let it roll off your back, as you guys unconditionally expect others to do in the face of your "jokes"  The reaction you guys always have to being teased by someone outside the club is not your only option, hard as it may be to wrap your head around.

Embrace and celebrate (or be "chuffed" by, if you prefer baby-talk) the diversity of humor in the world!

Drake, I don't want to know why you thought the joke was funny; just what the text of the joke was. Tough to tell if humor aligns if you're aloof to what the joke was.
Edit: Best I can tell the joke is that Paul and Mike are homosexual? Is that the joke?

Do you know why the scarecrow won employee of the year?
Because he was out standing in his field.

That's funny.

Chuff is of British origin and the word has been around since 1860.  Its a colloquial phrase common to Brits and has recently become part of the American lexicon.

I actually heard of that one. My knowledge of console stuff is about zero, but for some reason I know that one. My son probably brought it up. He does a lot of card tricks.

I should add that I didn't realize Howard was referencing that until Malenko brought it up.

it was released on iOS and droid for a while. The best thing about sega CD  (if you have one) if you can just burn the disc and play it, no chip needed (or just use an emulator)

They released that Penn and Teller game to the public domain didn't they?  I remember reading about it in the 90s and being marginally hyped about it.  Nowadays, I've read a couple of Penn's books and that was that.

Yeah, so, those Apocalypse Culture books.  Probably 90% of them is people in the pre-internet days making ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- up, and at least back then you had to be creative to get attention, but man that 10% will darken your soul.  I'm about halfway through volume 1, so I've got a ways before I get to Roy.  Coincidentally, someone in his family has been posting recordings of him yelling about a bus pass to youtube.  Which, fine, whatever, but the recording about gassing the jews... yeah.

I started a post saying I'm not going to answer mal's question, but only offer general advice. So what does he do? Nothing but pretend my post was an answer to his question.  This cowardly creep's streak of dishonesty when addressing me remains unbroken. Such a pitiful figure. Even taking his deliberate twisting of my intent at face value, let's see what we have:

Drake, I don't want to know why you thought the joke was funny; just what the text of the joke was. Tough to tell if humor aligns if you're aloof to what the joke was.

All trace of my participation is gone from that thread. So either you saw it for yourself or someone told you what happened. Are we to believe you were told just enough to tease you, and you didn't think to ask this person for elaboration instead of the community? Either way, you're being dishonest. You tried to manufacture a "got ya!", and now it's back-firing.

Keeping in mind we know you already had a at least a good idea of the joke, let's revisit your first phrase quoted above. Here's what you said after you weaseled out a way to "got ya!" me
Quote
I don't want to know why you thought the joke was funny
But you originally said
Quote
I'd be chuffy if someone can explain to me what the joke Drake said in the Star Trek thread , and how it was funny.

Pathetic. I've no doubt you'll find some dishonest way to deny these truths (or mock me for using facts), and a couple of the other cowards will back up your new fantasies, but do you ever wonder what happened to your integrity?

I do like the "I'm an innocent seeking answers" approach you've taken to trolling. It's novel, at least.

Etymology! When it gets mal-splained to you, it changes the way words sound!

In keeping with the theme of this thread, I am jazzed that I don't live with the kind of garbage that's in mal's head.

I'd be chuffy if someone can explain to me what the joke Drake said in the Star Trek thread , and how it was funny.

Don’t bring that ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- to this thread, bro
If only everybody was as obedient as Mike!

Dude you can't post that immediately after the last post you made directly above it that we can all read and probably all read immediately before that one.

I think we've all learned that none of us are mature enough to talk about Star Trek, so let's just leave it at that.

I was asking anyone to explain, didnt have to be you.

I saw all your text, I couldn't decipher what was intended to be humorous. I'll just chalk it up to "I don't get it"

Went to the joystick arcade bar in Atlanta this past Saturday. Finally got to play a cramped 4 player game of gauntlet and turtles in time. Also the ms pacman game was super fast for some reason but made for a more fun game.

Is it really a vacation if you don't travel anywhere?

I know you're being hateful and envious, but this is 3 hours out into the hill country.  Looks nothing like Houston.  Maybe someday you'll get to enjoy it.
