Re, Malenko, What has always worked well for me, Is, knowing how to be a good buyer. folks know what they have, but you don't know what they have access to, (or hidden in the garage) So next time you try to lowball someone think Just think  what would Jennifer do? ::).... And then get out of the way, and start loading the truck.

---fudgesicle--- you for implying I low ball.  Why don't you roll your candy ass out to Delaware , and show me how its done.  If you consider $800 for a pile of *untested* Galaga parts a deal, well then maybe the reason I'm not getting deals is because I know what a deal is and you don't.
Lets have a litmus test, this a deal to you?:
https://delaware.craigslist.org/vgm/d/area-51-arcade-game/6550145690.html

The landscape is littered with beat up conversion cabs with no monitors for $500+ , LCD powered "custom built" ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- boxes running padnora's boxes for 2 grand, and non working EM pins for 2 arms and half a leg.

720 is a pretty well known skateboarding game with a medium res monitor. Personally, not a fan, but its Yotsie's grail, so good for him. I'd rather have a silkworm and someone to play it with me :)

So anyway, I’m almost down with a Hypersports restore I’m doing for a friend of mine. It’s been a fun restore, my buddy John is a good guy.

I’m also restoring a Dynamo. This one has been a great learning experience in regards to learning how to resurface. It will be making an appearance at ZapCon as Yie-Ar Kung Fu. I have eventual plans for it, though, post-show.

So you are going to throw out that heavy CRT and upgrade to a LCD? Sweet.

You should also get rid of that ugly coin door. Maybe you could put a fish tank there.

Of course I am sure the LED buttons are already on the way.

I can't wait to see how this turns out.

If we are on the same page, the one with the trackball is tri-sports.  I've got an old tri-sports control panel around here somewhere....

Be sure to make the lcd monitor rotate in the Crazy Kong for some added challenge.

It definitely needs AimTraks... and a keyboard drawer.

Also make sure it folds up into a dresser.

Crack is wack, people!

I love Crazy King. Moreso than Donkey Kong, in fact. This machine is going to get some love so it looks like a dedicated Cabaret and not the nasty bootleg that it is. I recreated the marquee art to make it fit, for example.

The aircraft carrier CP will have to turn sideways and slide in if its going to transform into a dresser.

I don't need to know you, or your history, I can see in the pics your tape lines are crooked, your sandpaper was gummed up and left uneven scratch marks, Cabs were not painted grey as an undercoat,(that will leave a grey bullseye someday when it gets scratched or dinged, Digging a cab out of the garbage doesn't automatically give you credibility, that's not even your game (Id be embarrassed as a friend/customer to see that splashed all over on the interwebs) probably spray cans anyway, And little thought to the fact a real restoration will outlive you into the future.

Man, I love before and after pictures of PS restorations.

How did you go about cleaning up the PS metal base?

VJ -

Naval jelly, 80 grit sandpaper, some paint, and a matte clear coat.

I bought a new line filter and fuse holders, repainted the transformer, and rebuilt the terminal block.

Guessing a dishwasher, then a can of paint

Dishwasher? GTFO.

The machine originally came from Northern California. There was plenty of salty sea air corrosion on the metal parts inside.

I also did some cleaning up of the PCB.

Thanks! Naval Jelly...I need to pick some of that up. I have a super rusty Nintendo PCB mounting plate I need to clean up.
If you can read this, it means Photobucket's money grab ruined my signature photos.

The jelly helped get rid of the solid rock-like deposits. The sanding cleaned the rest up.

That's good stuff. I have a few power supplies in need of similar treatment. Thanks.

I normally don’t spend this much time on a power supply, but a) I’ve never seen one this corroded before and b) it IS my 720 after all. I’m going to do a complete teardown and restoration of this game. I’ve grown to embrace patina, but not on this one. :)
