My friends threw a baby shower for me this past sunday, it was more or less "lets see how drunk we can get Ian." I still feel like ---steaming pile of meadow muffin---... But I got a Color DMD for the Black Rose!

They added some CPS1 and CPS1.5 games to the Darksoft MultiCPS2

Punisher is perfect, SF2 CE and SF2`Turbo have all the graphics and gameplay from the CPS1 version, but uses Super Turbo sounds (since they lack Q sound audio like the CPS1.5 games)

Finally designed a hinge for those massive slabs of glass in the world of Nintendo cabinet that works!  Glass is spot-on now with the hinges butting the glass doors directly against the side glass.  I'm still amazed that there isn't a commercial solution out there for a 90 degree butt hinge for glass.  According to my file dates that only took me 6 months.  *grumble grumble*  Anyway it's done so I can finally move on to finish work.  I've got parts printing as we speak.

A bad one sure (the room isn't wide enough to get a full shot.)  There's also a thread in the console forum.

I never had enough quarters to git gud on that game in the arcades.  And it plays like ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- with alternative controls.

Agreed, that’s why it was always my goal to get an original one. I love the game but you cannot play it with a regular joystick at all.

It doesn’t use LED buttons, It doesn’t have a dynamic monitor, It’s not running a Pi, and it’s not Cuphead related. I’m sure the peanut gallery would be thrilled.

Yeah. This joker wanted twice that. I wasn't seriously tempted at that price. 2 grand? maybe if it is minty perfect. I haven't spent nearly that much for a game yet.

You know, when I got into this hobby you could get cabinets for a little bit of nothing but I was a kid and didn't have any money.  Now anything halfway interesting starts at 1k.

You need to do a 720 build man.  You also need to get out the calipers.... maybe the joystick spinner can be 3d printed for a halfway decent home version.

Same here. It makes me sad to think about all the deals I passed on years ago. Same goes with PCBs. Back then, If I had known my cabinets better, I could have had a killer collection just by farming out the converted cabs that went for nothing and buying their PCB on ebay.

Mike, we’ll discuss it over some beers at ZapCon. I’ll show you all the pics on my phone.

I’m actually working on FOUR projects right now. Should have them done by showtime.

I remember looking on eBay in the early 2000s and seeing a “MACROSS PLUS JAMMA PCB!!1!” for $50. I didn’t know what was so I passed. You could get almost 10 times that amount for it now.

$25 shipped used to be my limit on JAMMA PCBs, and I had a decent collection.  Held onto them a few years, got over the delusions and switched to MAME, and made a decent profit flipping them.  Makes me sick to see what some of them sell for now.   :lol  Pinball's even worse than I could have possibly imagined and I already got in when prices were shooting up.  Couldn't afford to buy my own WCS 94 at today's prices.   :-\

If you’re handy and patient you can rebuild and flip your way up to some pretty decent pins. 800-1k initial investment and repair costs spread over months as hobby expenditures. I usually make 500-1000 on pin flips. It’s amazig what you can do to the price just by making all the lights work.

The low hanging fruit repairs have been dried up for a decade here.  I churned a pretty good collection buying dead machines for next to nothing.  Oh well.

OMG, listen to you boys, All like RIP in here.... Firstly, don't forget these games were 3-5K back in the day all NIB, think of the coin /op guy that had to shell that out before inflation went like it did, When $5.00 could buy you 2 gals of gas, a soda, a pack of smokes, and still leave change left over for afternoon games at the local pizza place.....But heres the thing, you CAN still get games, it takes some creative visions to be sure but they are still everywhere, relatively cheap ( And heres a hint, its NOT craigslist) too much competition, cant even get there before its gone.... And caveat emptor, be quite sure of what it is you seek to possess.

I'm with Jim. The only time I get good deals is when I buy from someone I've dealt with before and have a good rapport with. Occasionally  I'll get a cab from a  friend of a friend that just wanted to get rid of it.  Every time I try to sell something everyone tries to lowball me, both pins and vids. Open Ice was my last "restore" , time to clean house.

I'm down to 5 vids and 3 pins, if things go right, I could be down to 3 and 3 by next week end! I'm a little conflicted on which 2 of the 3 pins I'm going to keep. (Comet, T2, LW3)

This ^

Unless you are a jobless person aimlessly driving around town on your cell phone refreshing Criagslist every single day...then there are ZERO deals left in this world.

The competition to score even a "fair price" is so fierce that I have given up imagining that I'll ever get a "deal".

These days... it's hard enough to even find the game you actually want with "cash in hand"....let alone find a deal. LOL

At this point, I've just resigned myself to the fact that I'll be satisfied if I can get anything (literally anything) for less than $700 anymore.

I've realized there are a LOT of hoarders in this hobby....and when you actually convince them to finally let go of their 4th Galaga machine....they are gonna make you pay for it.

Deals are out there, but they are like a white rhino so you can't depend on them.  It's why I was amazed with my pick-n-pay hauls last year for console stuff.... some of the deals weren't great, but the fact that I could get ANYTHING for a half decent price was amazing to me.  You've got to keep in mind that I was available on Friday mornings as well.... if I weren't then I wouldn't have found anything as you literally had to be one of the first people through the door at 7 am.

Oh please, Jenn just bought a game two weeks ago (8 ball) with a monitor in it even. And it only cost 50.00, (and a 8 gal keg), for the mover boys, to haul it up out the basement for me, Don't know if it even works yet,....And that deal came to me, I don't even go look for them anymore, got Wayyyyyy too many already,..... They are still out there, though, and got to agree with Howard on this.

Oh, shut it.  I've been hearing that "it's out there, you're just looking in the wrong place!" shtick for almost 20 years.  Thrifty nickle, ebay, craig's list, and countless others I've forgotten are always deemed the 'wrong' place.  Is there a conference where you people teach other all these stupid just-so stories?

I drug a lot of ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- up from Colorado from CL back in the day. Quite a few freebies... Including a fully working Asteroids. Most I ever paid for a non-pin game from Colorado was $170 for Gorf I won on ebay. Pulled two Skeeball machines from Leadville for $200. Sorry VJ... I took a lot of the low hanging fruit back in the day... Well, not sorry. >:D

I’m sure the masses of frenzied collectors rushing to get that 8 Ball were envious of your haul.

Yeah, so how can we magically get all these great deals? I've gotten some really ---fouled up beyond all recognition--- up cabs and I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty but my last stint in dealing with a new guy had him wanting 800 for a pile of wood that used to be a galaga cab, along with untested board, power supply, and monitor, no controls or coin door/mechs.
If you're replying to a troll you are part of the problem.
I also need to follow this advice. Ignore or report, don't reply.

Not to mention Yots, We were talking about finding good deals in the wild, Not pick of the litter premium at  some phoenix vender love fest.... Re, Malenko, What has always worked well for me, Is, knowing how to be a good buyer. folks know what they have, but you don't know what they have access to, (or hidden in the garage) So next time you try to lowball someone think Just think  what would Jennifer do? ::).... And then get out of the way, and start loading the truck.

There’s a big different between “good deals on games” and “good deals on games that are actually desirable”.

I have a feeling VJ is referring to the later, not the former.

And while I’m at it, “Bela Legosi’s Dead” by Bauhaus is such a great song.

I got my 720 last week for $0. I don’t need your advice on how to deal with people, lady.
