I present the authors of PhD Comics. This may be the nerdiest thing I’ve ever attended. The title of their book pretty much summarizes their lecture.

Here we watch Garth Brooks ritualistically slaughter modern country music.  80,000 people sing along.

On the other hand, his band was diverse, and his lyrics aren't preachy or chest thumping patriotic....

Garth puts on a hell of a show.  And he is sort of "the guy" when it comes to modern country music (36 top ten hits since 1989), so it's his to butcher.  :)

He came to Billings (pop 100k) and sold out 5 shows over one weekend (~18k people per show).  I went to the last one, which started at 6:30pm, and he said he would play all night if the audience wanted since he didn't have another show for a few days, and I left at 11pm and heard that he played til 1 am... I gotta give him some respect for that.

Yeah, I'll hand it to him - it was a very good live show.  Particularly contrasted to that time Toby Keith came out 45 minutes late drunk out of his mind, and slurred his way through a few songs.   :lol

Garth Brooks simultaneously revolutionized and ruined modern country music.  Injecting a bit of rock/pop into his sound works, because he's great.  It doesn't for everyone else because they suck.  I like old Garth and I don't like country.

Heh, I've got a half dozen or so of those around here somewhere.  I keep saying I'll use them for a project, but so far they just sit in the parts bin.  They aren't NOS though.... I pulled them off of old control panels.

Deadlifted 315lbs today.  I think that means I could lift most of you now.

335lbs today.

You feel the universe crack open when you lift it.

Is that maxing or for rep? My back is too important and fuckered up for maxing. I’m repping 225x8 for 4 sets on the regular. My goal for May is to be doing that at 315.

I also abandoned the straight bar long ago. That way lie injuries. Hex bar only for this buckaroo.

My lifting buddy just hit 295 this past week. The universe shivered. His max in Iraq when we were all young dumb and full of *the Holy Spirit* (he’s a Chaplain) was 405. But that’s a young mans game, ain’t nobody got time for that.

Straight bar, got it up 4 times.

At 225, I usually do 4 sets of 7 reps. Guy that trained me wasn’t fan of single max lifts.  Deadlifts and squats every damn day with that guy.  Now that I’ve sent him back to his home planet Mexico, I’m working more on upper body.  Bench press and bicep curl weights are pathetic.

I know an ex NFL player in his 70s that deadlifts 500lb several times a week.  Keeps my ego in check.

The only cool way to dance is to keep your hands at your sides and your eyes looking at the ground. Then every three seconds you take a drag from your cigarette.

Mohawk chick is kinda hot.

Doing a couple of things I haven't gotten around to yet.  I soft-modded the PSP and re-flashed my Saturn's pro action replay.  Still gotta do the Vita and then I'll tackle the problem of my super everdrive and ed64 having funky carts shells and the pro action replay being grey on an all black console.  Hopefully I'll have another burst of energy to get it done as I haven't been too well lately.

I met with a kitchen planner today. She is going to give me some advice on how to design my new kitchen.
This has me chuffed for multiple reasons.

1. My kitchen is decent sized, but it is walled off from the rest of the house. I am going to knock down two walls and open the kitchen up into the living room.
2. I love demolition work.
3. The new kitchen / living room is going to include a dozen new arcade cabinets (acquired over time), and two gaming tables for board games and card games.
4. My appliances are dated. One oven in my double oven hasn't worked in years. My electric range is all beat up. My refrigerator is too small.

I have a lot of gatherings at my house. This is an improvement I should have done years ago.

April is a chufftastic month for me. I am psyched for Zapcon and the Midwest Gaming Classic.

I didn't mind my enclosed kitchen until I started entertaining lots of people regularly. I usually cook for my guests because I enjoy it. My friends end up crowding into the kitchen to talk. Opening up the kitchen will solve that problem for me.

They will just go and find a different closed off room to gather in.. like the laundry room or something.

Yeah I don't get it either.  Stove, Fridge, Sink and a little bit of counter space... that's all you need.  I'd rather have smallish kitchens and bathrooms to leave more room for living rooms... you know, the place where people are actually supposed to be during the day.
