Mike A:
I was never a Disney fan. My kids aren't Disney fans. I guess that could be part of the problem. My favorite part was hanging out in the campgrounds. I had a cabin and my parents had their RV. The kids were little and they loved the RV. My wife and I had the cabin mostly to ourselves. We met some other people and we grilled out every night. I took my kids to Universal a couple years ago and we had a great time. They were 15 and 18 at the time. We stayed at the Hard Rock. Their system for early ride entry is way better than that fast track Disney had at the time. At Universal we waltzed onto rides and attractions with little wait time and we didn't have to strategically plan out our day. Disney may have changed their system by now. The water park at Universal was a waste of time. Too much waiting around. For some reason they had a different system than the other 2 Universal parks. We left after an hour. I am glad you had fun at Disney. Just because I didn't like it, that doesn't mean I don't want anyone else to like it. My wife loved it. |

Universal, while very tame was fun.... Disney seemed to be geared towards toddlers and perpetual 8 year olds. Keep in mind I was very much a Disney fan at the time and I still found it underwhelming. That being said, just skip them both and go to Cedar Point. They have actual rides in their park ass opposed to infinate stage shows and have some of the best coasters on the planet. |

Probably because I went too many times growing up. Waiting in long lines in the heat for little pay out? Narp. |

Ok how about Busch Gardens? They have a good park as well. tbh though I can't think of a single good park that doesn't have crazy long lines, Disney included. |

Used to enjoy going to Fiesta Texas during the offseason. No lines and the workers were so damn stoned you could basically do anything. Had a season pass for awhile and was always getting cheap/free tickets. Got to be that you'd recognize the performers and go, "this is the third year in a row I've seen that blond sing boogie woogie santa claus for minimum wage..." Anyway, nice diversion for 2 or 3 hours and it was only about a 20 minute drive. Sea World, though, meh. The last time I went, I got to listen to how killer whales have a range in nature of thousands of miles while I watched one swim around in circles in a tiny swimming pool. That was it for me. Blackfish is a great documentary if you like listening to crazy, attractive people talk. Houston.. well... AstroWorld is now a parking lot for the Houston rodeo. And we've got some scammer that's been raising money for "Dinosaur Land" for at least 20 years. EDIT: The dinosaur scam is still going.... :lol http://www.earthquestadventures.com/ |
