Groovymame 0.191-0.193 Issue
« on: January 06, 2018, 07:43:43 am »
Hello !

First of all, happy new year everyone  ;D

Here is my setup:
- Motherboard: MSI G41M P33
- Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 6850
- Memory: 2gb DDR2
- Video Card: ATI Radeon 7470
- OS: Windows 7 64bits Pro

I made a fresh install of windows and followed this thread:
http://geedorah.com/eiusdemmodi/forum/viewtopic.php?id=301

Directx is up to date.

Here is my problem, when i use the groovymame version 0.191 and later, i have this error message: "Unable to create the Direct3D device (8876086C)".

With an older version (0.181 for example), everything is ok.

Same problem after réinstallation of windows and crt emudrivers.

Here is a screenshot of the error message (here with the 0.192 version of haynor666 - nonag - d3dex):

I found a 0.193 version who's working fine (D3d9ex only) on my setup:
http://www.emu-france.com/news/53835-multi-systemes-groovymame-v0-193-switchres-v0-017f/:
Télécharger GroovyMAME D3D9Ex (x64) v0.193 SwitchRes v0.017f (60,0 Mo)

I join the logs files and the mame.ini

Is anyone does have a clue ?

EDIT: the CRT emudrivers installed are those one:     crt_emudriver_&_tools_2.0_beta_10_16.2.1_W.7.8.10-64_nieg.exe

Hi cali_955,

Check GM's 0.193 changelog. Please try my build: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1tOza6eH2Wqq1TcebDkjj34UbUhvxeh_0

The mame.ini you posted was not created by GroovyMAME.

Steps to create a log:
 - From command line, run: groovymame.exe -v romname >romname.txt
 - Attach resulting romname.txt file to your post, instead or pasting it.

Hello Calamity :)

I tried the both versions:

With the d3d9ex one, i got the same error message (i renamed it to mame642 on this screen): "Unable to create the Direct3D device (8876086C)":

I joined the log.

But with the other version, it's working fine  :-[

Joined the log too

Does that happen when you try to run in window mode? I mean, your log shows the error doesn't happen at the beginning but later when the device is created again, as if you had pressed alt-enter.

Are you launching GM from the provided folder you downloaded including all its files or just pasting the binary in any random folder with older files?

Yes, it appears when i press alt-tab, but i can try to launch the game in windowed mode.

I tried launching GM from the provided folder i downloaded including all the files and also launched the binary in an other folder with older files, i got the error message on both.

Alright, that's the windowed mode bug, it was introduced with Switchres 0.017f when trying to fix something else, I have a fix already that'll be included in 0.194.
