There were two versions of the 467: the earlier version has a two wire power cord and a later version has a 3 wire (grounded) power cord. I believe there are only minor variations between the two versions.

Well, mine's a B&K 440.  It works but you have to clip the individual wires to the pins on the neck.

You've got a 440? That thing belongs in a museum. It was made around 1962 from what I understand.

It surprises me that the 467 still is commanding high prices on ebay (between $180 to $450).

EDIT: By the way, I have added the 467 schematic to the original post.

Calibrating trimpots inside the unit are:

R16: Sets HEATER calibration (shown in manuals)

R23: Sets TRACKING minimum pulse calibration (shown in manuals)

Unmarked trimpot next to resistor R20: Sets LINE VOLTAGE calibration (not shown in manuals or schematic)

Probably all of it. Remember, the 490 (a.k.a. 490A) is vastly different than the 490-B.

The 490 is just a 467 with a nicer faceplate.

Hi Ken, I'm making an adapter for a Sony BVM 20" monitor using an old neck board slot. The tube is a Sony Trinitron 20MZ1-PVM M49LCB21X.

I *think* the B&K adapter would have been the CR-70, but I haven't been able to find a data sheet to confirm.

I've been using the following adapter pinout:

pin 1 = H1
pin 2 =H2
pin 3 =G1G
pin 4 =G1B
pin 5 = G1R
pin 6 = KR
pin 7 = KG
pin 8 = KB
pin 9 = n/c
pin 10 = G2
pin 11 = n/c
pin 12 = n/c

Does that look correct to you? I found some conflicting information for pins 3, 4, and 5. I wanted to get confirmation from you before trying it out.

Thank you!

Hi Ken, thanks for getting back to me. That’s OK, would you be able to please confirm the B&K adapter’s pinout is correct as listed below?

pin 1 = H1
pin 2 =H2
pin 3 =G1R
pin 4 =G1G
pin 5 = G1B
pin 6 = KR
pin 7 = KG
pin 8 = KB
pin 9 = G2R
pin 10 = G2G
pin 11 = G2B
pin 12 = FOCUS

Thank you!

The B&K setup manual (page 61) shows adapter pinouts for many adapters. The CR70 adapter is shown in it as this pinout:

10: heater
9:   heater
5: Red G1
8: Red K
6: Green K
11: Blue K
7: Green G2
1: G3, G4, G5

http://www.ionpool.net/arcade/100-CRT.pdf

I have zero information on Sony Trinitron tubes.

Hi Ken,

I actually wanted to know what the pinout was for the molex that connects to the socket adapter, but I was able to find the appropriate pinouts in in the service manual than you posted. Thank you for your help!

I was making a B&K 467 to B&K 490B adapter, which I was able to do. :-)

Also, I managed to acquire the manual and service documents for the B&K 490B – which I think is actually a rebadged Konig TR850. It doesn't look like a Dynascan product. If I send you those, could you post them for posterity here?

The 490B is completely different from the 467/490. The interesting thing is that it says that the two restore values are either 25 or 50 mA.

Do you happen to know what the Clean/Balance and Rejuv values for the B&K467?

Thanks again!

So I just recapped my new to me BK467, according to google you guys here seem to have the most information on them.

The service manual isn't very clear on the tracking range calibration.

After hooking up the resistor and warming the unit up, it says to putthe 467 into test mode, adjust the G2 red control till it reads full scale on the meter. I assume that means when it's at 2.0 (all the way to the right)?

Then it says while pressing the tracking button and adjust R23 until it reads the minimum setting. Does this mean 0 on the meter or at the "set tracking mark". I can't adjust R23 any lower than .2 on the meter so I'm hoping it's not supposed to be set to 0.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Corey

The unit needs to be calibrated after any major work like replacing caps.

Then you can simply plug it into the neck, check the guns, clean them or rejuvenate.

If that's the lowest it will go then you're fine.

So just adjust it to the lowest the pot can go or should I set it to “tracking set”?

Hi Ken,

Hope you’re well! I’ve been messing around with the 467 and have a question. I was checking the heater voltages during Clean & Balance and Rejuvenation.

When Red or Green are pressed in Clean & Balance mode the heater voltage changes to 7.5vAC, but Blue is 8vAC.

When Red or Green are pressed in Rejuvenation mode the heater voltage changes to 15vAC, but Blue is over 17vAC.

I have had “better” results with blue guns, which requires me to push the red and green guns a second time — so I assume this wasn’t an intended feature of the unit’s design.

Do you have an idea of what I should check first?

Thank you!

I've never had a need to check heater voltage on the rejuvenator. I think you are worrying about nothing.

Remember, during the rejuvenation process (and clean/balance) the heater voltage is boosted to burn off contamination and improve emission.

Also, be very careful not to lift foil traces if you recap yours. The traces can lift/break if you are not careful.

Hi Ken,

Thank you for getting back to me. I sent you a PM this morning, but I thought it might be best to also include an update in this thread. I went ahead and did a full recap of the unit, while also replacing some of the resistors.

Most of the capacitors had good ESR, but their capacitance seemed to have drifted up. For example a 1000uf cap read as 1318uf. Some of the higher wattage resistors had also drifted up. One of the three 620k 2 watt resistors in the center of the board read as 764k out of circuit.

I replaced all of the capacitors and the following resistors: R37, R38, R40, R41, R46, R47, R48, and R58. Unfortunately, now that I've completed the work on the unit, it doesn't work properly.

The most obvious symptom is the restore functions do not work — the unit doesn’t “charge up” when switched to that mode and when a restore button is pushed the ballasts do not light. I would "hear" the unit when it was switched to restore mode, but now it is mostly silent.

I’ve also noticed that the emissions readings are incorrectly and weak, even with a new tube. I confirmed this with a B&K 490 and Sencore CR7000. The 467 is putting out proper voltage however and I can set G1 and cutoff without any problems.

I think this has something to do with 270v, but I’m not sure where to begin. Would you be able to advise based on this information?

Thanks again!

PS – I didn't have any issues with the traces thankfully. This seems to be one of the "newer" units and 1974 is marked on the circuit board.

The 467 is a nice machine in the overall scope of things, I had a few of them over the years, However after tearing them down for parts I noticed they easily swap over to the Beltron (which has no/little socket support or tech info) The beltron is a better machine IMO given it uses current not volts (as the case with the 465) to do the deeds...As result the Belton can fix or trash a tube the 467 won't even dream about.

Hi Jennifer,

I've never heard of the Beltron. Do you know the model number?

When testing the B&K 467, B&K 490B (Konig TR850), and Sencore CR7000; I noticed that the 467 definitely pushes volts during the rejuv process more than the other two units.

The CR7000 pushes the volts a bit: for 6.3v tubes, some restore functions will push the voltage to 7.5v, while others add half of the set voltage – so 9.4v approximately. The CR7000 also uses DC rather than AC voltage. The higher rejuv functions will push the current as high as 100mA.

Any ideas about my issues with 467?

Thank you

Hi Ken,

I did another inspection of the unit and may have found an issue. Diode D35 (91v) appears to have be crushed and parts of it are cracked off. It seems to test ok, but I plan to replace it. It’s next to the one of the modules connectors so it’s possible it was mashed by it.

Do you happen to know what part of the circuit this is?

Thanks again for your help.

I'm updating this thread. The B&K 467 manuals and repair guides have been moved again to this site:

Appears most of the links are dead in the original post about the 467. Is the information available anywhere else?

I want to start using my 467, so I created an account to kindly ask for an update of the links about the 467 :)

EDIT: last link by Ken is dead, however by using the Wayback Archive I found all the files on this Google drive: https://drive.google.com/drive/u/0/folders/1ZM7PhrVf2ed96BOv2OjDEaHsvzZDBC6V However it contains more files than only the 467 ones, so a link update in this thread would be neat.

All of the repair guides have been moved yet again. They are now located here:

Ken is dead

I can't believe no one here is here is talking about this. I know there's a thread on KLOV about it, but still...
1. That's . . . one way to quote pr0ton's post.   ::)
last link by Ken is dead

2. You missed the most recent thread in this sub-forum?

I originally searched and it didn't come up. Now I feel like an idiot.
