Installing GroovyMAME
« on: December 17, 2017, 12:42:29 pm »
Trying to install GroovyMAME (v 0.185).  The below files are in the GM folder on the download site.  Once I've unzipped the regular MAME files, what do I do with the below?  Running Windows 7 64-bit.  Are these only for linux systems?  I have no experience with diff files.

0185_groovymame_017d.diff
d3d9ex.diff
groovymame64_0185.017d_linux.tar.bz2
groovymame64_0185.017d_wiimote_linux.tar.bz2

I guess maybe I'm missing where the groovymame executable is located?

yes the executable is on another zipped file, you dont really need the ones downloaded for a first installation under windows.
check for instance the latest release folder and follow the installation instructions to create a mame ini file to start with :)

I'm still lost.  Could someone please tell me what I need to download in order to play my version 0.185 roms via GroovyMAME?

Hi imtrashed,

I didn't upload the binary for 0.185, that's why it's not in the folder. Download 0.186 instead. Probably all your roms will still work.

Alternatively you could compile your own 0.185 build by using the diff files in there but I guess that's not what you want.
Important note: posts reporting GM issues without a log will be IGNORED.
Steps to create a log:
 - From command line, run: groovymame.exe -v romname >romname.txt
 - Attach resulting romname.txt file to your post, instead of pasting it.

Should I be using the regular groovymame executable or the d3d9ex version?  Sorry for being so needy.  Just want to get this set up correctly the first time.

For Win 7 you want the D3D9EX version.
