Looking for an amplifier
« on: December 09, 2017, 04:52:21 pm »
I need help finding an amplifier. I have an arcade cabinet with a twin system: Raspberry Pi and JROK.

The RPi has  stereo line-out sound.

The JROK outputs speaker-level mono.

I would like to have an amp that could output the JROK signal to two speakers. And have the RPi as a second source.

Ideally, switch automatically to whichever input is active.

The speakers are Polk Audio 5-inch automotive. I think amplifier output of 20 watts would be plenty.

What advice can you guys give me?

Thanks!

Ideally only 1 unit will ever be on at once right?
Cheap amp board:
https://www.amazon.com/DROK-TPA3116-Amplifier-Adjustment-Potentiometer/dp/B0177F614Y/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1514587762&sr=8-13&keywords=drok+audio+amplifier

JROK ouput, convert to line level:
https://www.crutchfield.com/p_543ADP12/Russound-ADP-1-2-Speaker-level-to-Line-level-Adapter.html?tp=9070&awkw=78572876905&awat=pla&awnw=s&awcr=50190041905&awdv=c&awug=9031546
or
Build your own:
http://www.epanorama.net/circuits/speaker_to_line.html

Then make a Y cable. Wire the JROK's mono to both L and R lines of the amp's input. And wire the rPi's out to the same amp's input.

Jenky... should work...
