Coleco Telstar Arcade
« on: December 08, 2017, 04:39:38 pm »
My first vivid memories of playing video games was on a Coleco Telstar Arcade unit and had been casually on the look out for one locally the last couple years. Ad popped up on CL this Wednesday and had to jump on it. Seller was way cool and just started giving me other sh!t.

Got everything in the pic for 50 bucks, but I was really only after the Telstar

The Telstar Arcade showed some signs of life and just needed a little tlc. The gear shift was broke, but thankfully the little piece was inside and I was able to epoxy it back on.

Replaced all the caps, gave all switches and pots the deoxit treatment along with a general cleaning inside and out. The sound comes from the unit and there is no volume control, it looks like they intended to have 2 speakers at some point, so I added a rheostat to the unused speaker port.

Once I tweaked the RF modulator and got a sweet picture, it was game on and the memories came flowing back. Will for sure drag this thing to the family x-mas gathering to create some new memories with my 2 older brothers and nephew.

good day.

Awesome! I never had the chance to play on of those. Drag it out here to ZapCon!

Never seen that one before, totally cool.  You scored all that?  The Atari and everything for $50?  Just freaking wow...

I saw that on CL. I am glad you picked it up. It will get the attention it deserves.

Nice score.  I would love to get all those consoles in one lot, I guess I need to hit the garage sales hard in the Spring.

Chopper's posts are dangerous.  Based on his last thread, I am on the lookout for a Vectrex.  After this one I am now also on the lookout for a Telestar.  Thanks??  ???  ;D
