but candy crush isnt like puzzle bobble though.

I think you want a game more like Panel De Pon (tetris attack), Pnickies, and other "slide match" games

The correct answer is: There aren't any.

The game concept first appeared in 1994 for MS-DOS, titled "Shariki" : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shariki

None of them are like candy crush because it encourages you to cheat via micro-transactions and is unfairly rigged against those who won't pay up.  ;)

Unless you're hardcore cheap like my wife. She's been playing that game for over 5 years now and hasn't put a single penny into it.  I respect that.  :applaud:

bwah?  How does a fedora make me a hipster?  Do you even know what a hipster looks like?

First, I don't have a mustachio. Secondly, my shirt isn't flannel, nor buttoned up to the top button. Nor am I wearing vintage clothing or suspenders.

Is it because I'm skinny, and not wearing cargo shorts?

I can't define a hipster specifically, but I know one when I see it.  It's ok man, embrace yourself for who you are.  :)

Why are you giving me such a hard time man?  I just made an observation, it wasn't particularly negative or positive.  I said your kid was cute, that was the point of my post and apparently you are so self-conscious that you go way out into left field because I said something about your appearance.  I'm sorry if it offended you man, but I'm honestly not sure why it would unless you seriously value my opinion that much.  If that's the case I guess I should take that as a compliment.

3rd party intervention here, but Hipster has never every been used in a complimentary fashion around me ever. Its used as an adjective to define exactly what kind of ---meecrob--- you are. Nothing about his appearance ticks off any of the hipster check boxes, the fedora is a neck-beard accessory. A wool cap is a hipster accessory. He lacks a per-requisite to be a neck-beard (no neck-beard is a dead give-away).

That being said I dont think you said what you did with any kind of malice, but if you called me a hipster I'd have likely responded the same way (let's be honest, worse).

Eh hipsters tend to wear hats as well.  He doesn't look bad in the hat at all, it just isn't age appropriate imho.  When you are still young and good looking you shouldn't hide your face.  Meanwhile my balding head cooks in the sun so I have to apply frikkin sunscreen  to the top of my head.  At least I'm still good lookin'  ;)

Me give you a hard time?  You're the one throwing labels around like it doesn't matter.

Malenko nailed it though.  Only hipsters don't care about being called a hipster. Everyone else takes offense, and where I'm from if you're calling someone a hipster who is not, you're pretty much looking for a curb-stomping.

But what annoys me more is your inaccuracy in trying to label me.  Like I said, you don't seem to know what a hipster looks like. I'm not sure what city you're from, but here on the west coast there is a clear distinctive look of what hipsters look like.

Wearing a single garment piece does not lump you into a category, that kind of thinking is just ignorant, and probably comes from a place of self-reflection. Some people can work a fedora, some people can't.  Fedora's work for my face shape.

Also, age appropriate?  LOL don't let my boyish good looks fool you, I'll be 38 in 2 weeks. I'm half-asian so I got the fountain-of-youth gene until I hit 60 where I'll start looking like the crypt keeper.

A fedora at 38 is completely appropriate. I'm at the age where I don't care for wearing baseball hats that often, and a fedora is a fine choice.

Seems like the hipster thing is on the way out.  I hope the Hitler Youth haircuts make their exit soon, too.  That's just my observations from spending the majority of my life on college campuses for the last 20 years.  Not too much curb stomping going on that I've seen..... Maybe things are different on the rough and tumble affluent streets of San Francisco.

It seems to be evolving.  At first hipsters wore the wool caps, the ironic t-shirts ect, but now they sport stuff you'd see a guy from the 1950's would wear along with handlebar mustaches, and way too many tats.  I mean maybe they call themselves something different now, but it's the same demographic.

The correct answer is: There aren't any.
Well, if the question was "what game came first?" then yeah, you're right. Just because Shariki came out prior to Panel DePon, Bejeweled, etc doesnt mean that they aren't similar.
The question was: "What are those old arcade games called that are like candy crush?"
The answer is THERE WEREN'T ANY!!

Ok, I'll bite.

Why don't any games that are similar to, but came out after Shariki, count? Bejeweled, Baku Baku (Animal) and others had arcade releases, so saying there are no similar arcade games is not a valid retort.

If someone called me a hipster I would be offended too.  As for the look, I think it is regional.  The hipsters I've seen in Colorado are sporting a man bun and sucking on their ---meecrob--- flutes while wearing flannel and talking about how progressive smoking pot is.  Around here, the look is different, what Howard is describing would fit the lesbian/gender neutral females around here.

You head west of here and you run places where the "west coast hipster" is pretty much 95% of the population.  Not all that unique.

Personally, I don't really fit any of the stereotypes I have seen Howard post.. I'm just your average 46 year old technology nerd who doesn't feel there is any kind of "age appropriate" anything in life.  I wear what is comfortable, and I am not trying to fit into anyone's style, stereotype, or genre.  I do own a pair of Carhart shorts, which is the closest thing I have to cargo shorts, but I wear them when it is hot out and I am working on something like a carpentry project.  I don't own flip flops or a hat of any kind, my feet have only seen the sun a few times in the last 3 decades.  If I drink or eat something, it isn't to be ironic, to stand out, or to try something different, it's because I like what I am eating.  i have facial hair but I also shave every day.  I'm overweight but look skinny compared to 90% of Americans.  What other Howardisms can we dispel today?

1) Opt ain't a hipster, and a fedora by itself means nothing, even if he is an artist.  ;)

2) A fedora does fit into the hipster wardrobe. I know a few who dress the bill. Its a common hipster look for the ones with some cash. The type that generally wears a fedora is call themselves "Bespoke" around here. They try to dress in an odd configuration of old-timey appareal. The term came from "bespoke suits" which means a tailor fitted suit. The hipsters here seem to collectively misunderstood the word to mean old fashioned clothing, so they will say stuff like "I just bought a bespoke scarf"

Shorten the hair and lose the waxed stache and that could pass for one of our millenial "gender neutral females" around here... :)

I just don't understand the trend for guys to want to look like women trying to pass themselves off as men...
