GroovyMame 120hz – R-TYPE
« on: November 22, 2017, 10:44:50 am »
Hello,

I recently picked up an NEC XP2990 and I've been using the 120hz presets from CRTemudriver to reduce input lag.

So far, this works great, but I noticed something odd with R-TYPE. Since the this game normally runs at 55hz, it "doubles" to 110hz approximately. The game works, but there aren't any scanlines.

Is there anyway to fix this?

Thank you again for the great software!!!

By using 120 Hz modes You can really reduce input lag? Groovymame have for this frame_delay and d3d9ex options. Basically using 120Hz for 60 Hz only duplicates every frame twice.

Could You post picture from this game? What exact resolution groovymame is using for this game? Scanlines does not depend from frequency but from number of vertical lines. What mode You are using for Your monitor in mame.ini?

I have Samsung 19 '' CRT VGA monitor and years ago when I used such modes I didn't spot any difference except less flickering picture.
