  • I want to build my own arcade controls!
I can't get my Spinner and trackball to register in GM when I try to set my controls. I upgraded from .161 to .181 to see if my LEDblinky would work better and also have a more robust system. They worked fine in .161 for me. I put my mame.ini in my /ini folder I thought maybe that was the problem. My settings are almost exactly the same as my .161 .ini but no trackball or spinner. Any help? Thanks

This looks like a good place to start.

If you're using a GUI version of MAME (MAMEUIFX, etc.) there should be a pulldown in the User Interface to set the device control types.

You can change the items in red to "mouse" -- you may also need to delete/redo config files for individual games that override these settings.

Huh, I tried fooling with those settings . I did not get any results. It's weird my .161 version had those same settings no mouse setting except for mouse_device.

You may try playing with the -mouseprovider option. Check this: http://docs.mamedev.org/_files/MAME.pdf
Important note: posts reporting GM issues without a log will be IGNORED.
Steps to create a log:
 - From command line, run: groovymame.exe -v romname >romname.txt
 - Attach resulting romname.txt file to your post, instead of pasting it.

So I tried all of the different settings and I still could not get it to work. I decided to do a new version of GM .179 and I installed it , upgraded my .161 roms and used the same settings as my .161  mame.ini and IT Works!
