Ack. Saved config from mame interface, now UI is wierd.
« on: October 30, 2017, 01:30:45 am »
I made some changes to the general input settings for user interface in mame's UI and saved the config, forgetting that this can overwrite the ini file. This caused the mame UI to look like the attached (stretched, wrong aspect). It used to run in an interlaced mode that fit a lot more on screen so you could read the game titles etc. So I remade the ini using the -cc command and changed the values needed again, but it hasn't fixed itself. Games still seem to run ok.

How do I get the mame UI to run in a decent res again? What controls that?

Here is the new look of the UI which isn't really usable now. Help?

umm, have you tried deleting mame.ini? Then you run mame from commandline with the -cc option to create a default config, then you follow the GM setup guide again.

Save your current mame.ini first, just in case.

And you can always delete default.cfg from the cfgs folder if your buttons are screwed up as well.

Butter- yes that's what I did. I didn't do anything else, I just generated a new ini and put the settings back in it that I had changed.

I regenerated and reinstalled modes and it fixed it up. Strange. Why would mame config affect modes?

Next time create a log and look into it, whatever was happening will be shown by a log.
Important note: posts reporting GM issues without a log will be IGNORED.
Steps to create a log:
 - From command line, run: groovymame.exe -v romname >romname.txt
 - Attach resulting romname.txt file to your post, instead or pasting it.
