Problem with Mame Weird Sound
« on: October 20, 2017, 07:48:48 am »
Hi all!
I was wondering if anyone has come across this problem before. Mame was working fine for a while then after I was playing around with video settings and testing things out all of a sudden no sound will work in fullscreen mode. It now only works if I run it in a window. It works fine in both fullscreen and windowed if I have the computer speakers selected as default in windows but no longer works in fullscreen when I have hdmi selected as default sound device.  Ive searched around but cant find anything on this particular issue. Ive also tried deleting the whole mame setup and unzipping fresh from the original download but its just the same.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure, but....

Are you using more than one monitor by chance? I am, as I play driving games and movies on my big screen although they use the arcade cabinet computer to run.

It was a little tricky to set up. Sound for all Windows games goes through my tuner, but MAME games audio plays on my game cabinet. As long as it is setup as my default.

I can also play a movie on one screen, with sound from the tuner, while playing MAME with its sound coming through the arcade cab.

I THINK MAME will use whatever you have set as your default audio device, as well as your primary monitor. Knowing that helped me set up everything else.

You may be able to set your computer up to play out of both audio devices at the same time. Depending on your OS maybe.

Sorry I can't give a better answer. There are people here who know much more than I do about MAME.
