Hi, I've sent a PM but with no response, would love to get access so I can put this on the kids machine.

Sorry Baker but I believe you're too late. I think sjaak stop distributing his version a while back.
(see pg 10 from this thread).

His projects are always amazing.

I PMed him back in the middle of April and didn't get a reply (Figured he had a backlog of PMs so I let it go and forgot to try again). I tried PMing him again last night hoping this isn't the case.

I hear ya.. I pm'd him too awhile back... but, Just figured that since I'm *new* to the board my chances would be slim.
Was hoping to get it going in my cab for my little girl who watches the movie 24-7.
I'm sure Sjaak has been swamped in the past with requests.  The ipad version just doesn't cut it in the icade.

I do not speak for Sjaak and I  am not suggesting that any of you PM Sjaak.

If you read this thread carefully he seems more willing to help people with actual arcade projects.

I think if you posted your project on this site somewhere (probably not in this thread unless it is just a picture of your Fix it Felix cab) it may, or may not, help your cause.

I am not saying that it will, but it could possibly, help build your credibility a bit.

If you read the previous page Sjaak actually PM'd a person after they posted a picture of their Felix cab.

That is the spirit around here. We generally like to help people with actual arcade projects.

The sound amp is from a Kinyo PA-116, so if you want the same audio amp that's in the FIFJr arcade machines, grab those speakers and you should be golden.

Sweet.
I will swing by my store tomorrow and pick up a few of these.
Thanks for the info!

I picked up the last 2 they had!

So now we have the actual amp.
But what kind of speaker is that?
Does'nt look like a Nintendo Speaker.

Sorry about bringing this thread back to life, but I'm too wondering what speakers they used. The one on youtube is some sort of alnico speaker. I managed to catch a slightly less blurry image that looks like 8 ohms and 5 watts printed on the back (I couldn't see the serial number clearly). The speaker looks slightly larger than the original sanyo, so I'm assuming it's a 6-1/2".

I've skimmed the thread but it is far too long to read it entirely.  If I'm repeating any questions, I apologize.  Perhaps a FAQ in the first post would be a good idea.

Q1:  What's the main differences between your version and the leaked Disney version?

Q2:  Is this going to be available to the community?

Q3:  When?

Q4:  What kind of PC specs are required?
If there's bees in the trap I'm catching em

And sanding the stingers down to a rough quill
Then I dip em in ink, and I scribble a bit
But if it they wriggle then I tickle em until they hold still
Lemme say it again
In my land of pretend
I use bees as a mf'n pen

I'll put this in the first post as well.

Q1:  What's the main differences between your version and the leaked Disney version?

The leaked Disney version is a beta version with some features missing: saving the hi scores, some sounds are missing. This version has everything the original version has, all the sounds (and some extra movie sounds), saves hi scores, works on all resolutions (horizontal and vertical), works in cocktail mode (screen flipping) and uses hlsl shaders to make it look like a crt on a lcd screen.

Q2:  Is this going to be available to the community?

This is a community project. A lot of members helped with the beta testing, bug fixing, graphics creation, sound/music creation and some of them even went to Disney Quest to get footage and sound recordings from the original game. For obvious reasons, there is no download link.

Q3:  When?

Short answer: never. Long answer: Never, unless Disney allows the distribution of the software.

Q4:  What kind of PC specs are required?

Basically any pc with a DirectX 9 compatible video card.

I'm not following the logic here.  Disney will never allow you to profit from your work, so the options are to keep it locked up or give it away free.  Why would you not want to give back to the community?  I suppose it's possible that you would have built the cab and made the game without BYOAC and the few other communities like this one, but I would have to say it would be unlikely.

Just one guys opinion, but what I see is a person who can't profit so he's saying "screw you all, I'll keep it for myself" even though it's not the communities fault that you can't sell it.

If I put the game up for download, I would have Disney lawyers on ---my bottom--- faster than you can say "copyright infringment"...this has been discussed in this thread.

And if you think I'm keeping the game for myself, you should really read the whole thread.

Too late to request a copy of the game? My niece loves this movie (she is 2) and saw my arcade machine last weekend and said "This Wreck-It Ralph's house? I need quarter! I need quarter!" She then proceeded to call Ralph for the next 20 minutes. She was sad when he didn't show up. She would flip if she saw this running on my Mame cab. If not I suppose I can always grab the Disney leak.

I got the game installed and the attention to detail and polish is amazing!

Great job guys!

I have a question about configuring a joystick. I have a 28-button GP-Wiz and when I open the confg editor, I only get (A,B,X,Y,Rightshoulder,Leftshoulder, start, and back) as choices. These seem to map to buttons 1-8 automatically.  Is there a way to bind the rest of my joystick buttons? If not, I imagine I can try to make an autohotkey script as a workaround.

Thanks!

I think XNA only supports XBox type controllers, so just these default buttons. But using autohotkey is shouldn't be hard to remap the key events.

Howard's wrapper for the Disney leak version ( http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,135805.msg1404134.html#msg1404134 ) has a setting for cocktail mode (not sure how well it is working as it was marked Experimental on the version I have ) but you might give it a try.

I think the issue you would have with the Sjaak version is that the game code must be updated with your machine identifier to keep it from running gin timed demo mode. Even if you got a copy of it, it would be useless for anything other than evaluating without Sjaak releasing an update with your identifier.

I was considering doing a project like this for my daughter.
Does it make sense with Fix it Felix Jr today? I mean, is it at all possible to get this game anymore, and maybe also add it to the MAME menu in HyperSpin?

The Sjaak version seems great with HLSL support etc.

But are Disney really out after simple builds like these? I’d consider it nothing but a tribute to the movie.

Great work on your game Sjaak!  I'm in the middle of building a "dedicated" Fix-It-Felix Jr." from scratch and being a new member on this forum. discovered your post from a search on the topic.  Any chance I could get a copy of your software?  I've got a PC situated for the cabinet that has Windows 7 on it currently but it's a downgrade license so I could upgrade to 10 if needed. The cabinet is maybe 40% done. So I was thinking I should start on the hardware side.  At any rate, thanks for your time. :)

No, sorry, it doesn't work that way. Sjaak's creation is a Windows program (.exe) so runs on it's own on a PC. It can't be run within MAME. But a good frontend could pull it into a game list like any other MAME game of course.

Most people just run the leaked Disney version (also a Windows .exe) nowadays. It's easy enough to find and mod - many threads about it on this very forum.
