How to get this Coin Counter/Meter working?

Hi all - So I bought one of these or my MAME Cabinet(Working coin mechs with an iPac): http://www.twistedquarter.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=10_35&products_id=1359

I was able to get it to power up fine wired to my computer's power supply(12v and ground). The issue I'm having is how to get the meter/counter to actually increase when quarters are put in through the coin mech. There are two wires that would be used for player 1 coin counting and player 2 coin counting. I thought I'd be able to wire those to the coin door switch to trigger it like how the iPac and MAME register the credit but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Hopefully I'm explaining this correctly and if not I can provide more info and pics.

you may have to isolate the coin lines with diodes (like 1N4001/2/3/4/5/6/7 etc.) and feed them into the counter that way. some voltage feedback in the sensing circuit on the computer side is likely causing the switch closure not to pick up.

It seems - as a test - you could connect it to power (red/black as normally done)
Then test touching the yellow to either the black or the red and determine which one increments. 
I would guess the yellow and black would cause it..

But I'm guessing you have tried that?

No need to make things overcomplicated. That coin-counter Works fine with 5V DC. Therefore if your IPAC, PAC-DRIVE etc... has a 5 volt output pin, plug or similar, connect the res wire to it and that's it.
After that, i I remember correctly, you have to join the black wire to the coin mech ground wire/switch.... If you still can't solve it, ask me and I'll try to help you.
