Windows 10, BigBox- best way to make it a multimedia center?
« on: September 21, 2017, 01:17:09 am »
Hey All,

I have a Dream Arcades cab that I recently setup with a new computer and switchable 4 way 8 way joysticks.  I'm LOVIN' it!

The cab is in a spare room and given it has a 32" LCD, I'd like to set it up to watch movies, Netflix, HBO Go, etc.

What's the best way to do that?  I have Fire TV's and a couple sticks...would it be best to just add one of these to an HDMI of the flatscreen?  Or should I use apps in the Windows 10 interface?  I know others use Kodi too but I'm not real familiar w/ it...

Thanks in advance for your  help!

It entirely depends upon how you want to set it up.  Windows obviously has more options and believe it or not, most, if not all of the fire tv apps are available through the windows store.  Windows is probably a better solution if you want really good jukebox software or something like that, but just for simple playback the sticks are going to be a lot easier to deal with.  Remember that with windows you really need a mouse and keyboard for most apps (or just a mouse if 10 is used in touchscreen mode).  With a stick you've already got everything you need.

Thank you for the reply!  I think I might mess with Windows 10 to see what I can do but having a Firestick as backup won't t be bad!  :)
