[Finished] New Mini Galaga from France !
« on: September 13, 2017, 07:58:52 am »
Hello folks !
First, sorry for the poor quality of my english spoken :embarassed:
I will present my new project, a 4/5 Galaga arcade machine that I baptized "Mini Galaga". I've already done many bartop since last 2 years, some for friends and some other for friends of my friends...
Here's the fisst pictures of my Mini Galaga. I make it with 15mm MDF with the narrowed plans of Gaetan .

Continuation of work next weekend :afro:

Hi here!
Little work this weekend, I shape and place the bezel and panel control support, cut the panel control and fix it with hinge to the kick plateso I could open and close the panel control easily.
I done the rear plate too and place it. Place to photos :

I tried my homedesigned panel control stickers cause I'm building a 2 players cabinet so I had to modify the design of the original panel control...
I received all the hardware (T-molding, Sanwa sticks and buttons, coin door etc), stickers are on the way, I only have to work on the software part right now... The next weekend will be heavy work !
To be continued ;D

That is some sexy pocket screw work! I think you should reconsider the start button location though.

I also need to follow this advice. Ignore or report, don't reply.

That's looking pretty good! What device are you going to use for the games?

The start of the curve on yours is more pronounced than most of the cabs I've seen (and the one I own). I have seen this style, but in the US, most of the midway Galaga/Ms. Pacman cabs have a smoother transition into the curve. Like this:

t looks good and some quality work, just curious if this was by design.

Thanks to all for comments ;)
Yo !

One little step last days !

I done the slot for T-molding and paint all that must be paint (2 coats). I have cut the marquee and put the sticker, cut the bezel glass and put the sticker too. Then I have cut the coin door and then put the kick plate sticker and finally installed the coin door. It look awesome ! Some pics :

Next step, stickers sides and laying the T-molding !

To be continued ;-)

only 2 coats ? :p

I suggest giving the part where the Tmodling will go a quick coat of paint (like with a foam brush) so you dont worry about any bare spots showing. Really good work so far.

Hey folks !
Little step this 2 days ago. I done the marquee lighting with two "neon Led" and the result is just like I wanted it is : bright enough to see it in dim light but not annoying for full light, see the pics :

Then, I've drilled the buttons and joysticks holes, stick the artwork on the CPO, installed the hardware (full Sanwa) and wired it, and then fixed the CPO on the cabinet with a piano hinge and 2 latch to avoid it from toggling during the game. Let's see the pics ;-)

After that, I installed the Raspberry Pi behind the coin door to make it  always accessible once the back of the cabinet closed and started the long and tedious Recalbox configuration !

And cause I have a child's soul, I did not resist the urge to play a small part of Galaga :-D

That's all for this 2 last days, next step next wednesday with the 2 sides artwork to stick and the T-molding to install...
Stay tuned ;-)
