Super PunchOut! |

Ian:
Well I was able to acquire a Super PunchOut cab that was in bad shape... looking to do a full restore on this bad boy. I did start a thread (due to my excitement) but I will continue here to post pictures of my progress. |
Mike A:
That looks to be a challenge. |
Ian:
First thing first I decided to tackle the control panel. Joystick is missing pieces, there is a ducking feature when you pull on the joystick little mac ducks... there were missing pieces and broken pieces. The buttons are all wrong, the cp is ripped and the cp itself was rusting pretty good. Someone plugged in every single connector on the back so all three connections on the micro switches were being used... lol Removed everything including the Artwork (came off easy with a heat gun), then used a wire brush to remove rust and all of the glue residue. I tried Ooops to remove the glue but it wasn't working... then I went to the big guns and used Xylene which was working, but not so much that I could just wipe it clean. So a combination of Xylene a wire brush attached to my drill and a brillo pad cleaned up the control panel pretty decent. Next was the Joystick More cleaning and got new parts from Mikesarcade.com Finished |
Ian:
Applied the artwork... poorly. I had it all lined up as best as I could (there really were no real hard circles on the artwork. It was at best an approximation of where the buttons would be, it screwed me up)... I took my time but ultimately it is off by a bit. I am going to just leave it. I doubt once this thing is together anyone will notice. Or maybe everyone will. At this point it's their problem. Got a nice repro "Ducking" graphic from Mikesarcade.com. I also got a nice big fancy blue Knockout button from.... you guessed it Mikesarcade.com (Thanks Mike!) Artwork was from Gameongrafix.com |
Ian:
I ordered cap kits from Iankellogg.com (because I gotta support other Ian's)... And I am going back and forth on whether or not to redo the black laminate sides.. They don't look bad... just a bit of battle damage. I may just try to clean them up with Magic Eraser. |
