ZapCon '18 Roll Call

Well ive spoken to the Ms, And although she likes the idea of coming out for a few weeks and getting zapcon in to she has exams at uni so no can do.

But....

We are due to get married early 2019, And we are thinking we could make it a holiday/honeymoon thing.

Which would be rather cool and make it a honey moon to remember!
For me atleast LOL

There are plenty of cheap flights, but Thomas cook has a charter (around Zapcon) time that costs about 700 quid to Las Vegas from Manchester, then a quick connecting flight to Phoenix for about $130.  I would recommend renting a car and getting there that way, and get a chance to see The Grand Canyon.  It is a nice trip and it will not be as hot as it is now.  I would book the car with Hertz and they include all the necessary insurance, so the rental company doesn't sting you when you pick the car up. Yeah 14 days minimum to get it all in, including Disneyland.    It is doable.

Ark. You come across as a ---meecrob---. I am sure you know that. You shouldn't be surprised when people respond negatively.

I am all good with that, it is when I show up at a venue like CAX  I do not know anyone's face.  Odds are I strike up a conversation with someone and its the nob who gives me grief when I'm online, and he is the nicest bloke you can meet.  So I play the games, look at what is on offer and then go my merry way.  Then I get told I was not there and not to come etc.  It is like I am back in junior high and everyone is too cool and are all ---punks---.  Now you see why I go stealth.  Life is so much better and easier.  I will be there next year, incognito, looking at games I now have on my Stargate, but it is always nice to see the old cabinets again. 

So was this Kanada the guy with the 720 joystick or the Mario Bed sheets guy with mummy issues in his NY apartment?  I cannot remember.  So many nobs on here to count.  Yot was in game over mode to disclose anything.

Well yeah and it is unfair of me to advertise the place as Anaheim is like driving in Greece (if you have done that), but surprisingly they do a bus trip from MGM to Disneyland.  If you have seen EuroDisney then there is nothing that you haven't seen.  Girls like to be dragged around Disneyland and do not attend solo so bring a mate.  Not a lot to do in NV or AZ but if you can get the flight that stops at JFK...

I have family in Arkansas so I will probably end up there for a while for free lodgings but having never been stateside theres lots for me to see and get excited about :p

Rather boring really, But my Auntie met a bloke from there working over here then they got married.

Now both retired and live in a large house there.

The landscape in Arkansas is just amazing, and the people there are the best you can meet.  I just might make a trip there before you do TG.  Before I was born the UK had one of its most coldest winters, so bad all the birds froze dead on the lawn.  With the rationing my Dad said enough is enough and had the option for Canada, Australia but you had to be in a proper trade to get in.  My parents worked in film so USA was the best as there was no points system.  My family moved all over Canada and California as it was a paradise when they landed there.  Now it is harder to enter and settle unless you are white and have a good degree.

It is all very polarizing when you see what is going on with immigration today.

Funny you should say that.  As this thread should have been made in here it seems more suitable as it has a certain purpose.  As you have posted in general EE,  well I thought this was an informal thread, kind of like getting to know you and some chit chat when we will be attending again.  If the thread was formal why not post it in the correct place? 

Lighten up Yot, you are starting to sound like my old next door neighbor. 

Who is going to pay for the logistical part of Zapcon?  Are you going to raise ticket prices? Yot should crowdfund it.  It would be better than posting it in an obscure part of this website.     Why not get the hobby sponsors to pitch in or donate some gear for a raffle?  I am pretty sure it is not cheap getting all those games in and out and renting the place.  I am sure Southwest Airlines could help if you give them some advertising space.
