There was one regret I had from the weekend. I was going to ask Opt to teach me not to suck at Robotron. I was too busy meeting new people and playing games. I don't get to talk video games in person with people who really know their stuff. This was a real treat.

Yeah, Opt was a beast at Robotron and Gyruss. I was amazed at how easy it seemed to be for him. Super good guy.

Iím glad the weather cooperated as well. Itís 95į today.

Iím going to post my yearly recap/thoughts a little bit later, but honestly, my favorite part of the whole week and was watching Laythe absolutely ---smurfing--- destroy Hard Driviní. In my heart of hearts, I truly wished Steve could have been there so he could have enjoyed the fun.

It blew me away. Iíve play that game since I was a kid, and Iíve always had a soft spot for it, but Iíve never seen anybody just absolutely shred the driving track perfectly the way he did. At one point, he had all top 10 high scores on the game. And the game won fan favorite at the show, so you know he wasnít the only one playing it.

I also had a blast with my new favorite Mexican jdbailey.  I can't believe I forgot to tag him in the group pic.  I mean you think I would remember him because he bought a round for all the BYOACers at the bar when I 'forgot my wallet'.

Hey.  No prob Yots.  I know you had a lot on your plate setting this all up.

I was also bummed that I didn't get a chance to get driving lessons from Laythe.

Also guys, Zaxxon texted me and it has joystick herpes. He recommends we all get tested.

Thanks, yeah, it's in excellent shape and came from a really good home. I'd like to use it to learn more about pin maintenance.

I've played Eros (same playfield), and it's actually quite fun.  RGP used to have a hate boner for those cocktail pins, but I wouldn't mind owning one.

For those who are kicking the tires for Zapcon 2019 (I'm def going), you can experience what's it's like to BE THERE with this 360 video that my buddy Tim from This Old Arcade posted of Zapcon 2018.  Click and drag to look around.  You'll see some peeps from here you will recognize too.

If this won't make you want to go then nothing will!

That is a cool video. I tried taking pictures to give my friends an idea of what the show was like. This is much better.

I get it. Most modern collectors probably donít like the theme either, but my great-uncle was a Southern Arizona cowboy who would come up to stay with my grandmother on the weekends, and he would watch Hee-Haw on Saturdays, so I know who Roy Clark is.

I'd laugh about the theme being out of date but pinball companies now are releasing stale stuff like Iron Maiden and AC/DC so it's not like we're keeping current anyway.

Yeah Mike, it was awesome to hang out with you and play that Fire Escape game together. Had a blast with that thing, and thanks to Neph for introducing it to us!  Too bad we didn't get to talk about your art ;)

AC/DC stale?  OMG that's like a 5k hard rockin machine, you may want to check your mailbox for some hate mail, :duckhunt.... While themed/dated machines become seemingly irrelevant with age it is probably safe to say they wont be making any more of those.

It was luck. The ball jumped out of the second or third tier and ended up in the 3000 point slot. Because it jumped out early on, I got a good time multiplier. Eventually I could get the ball all the way to the bottom regularly, but I never got a better score. Lesson learned. It is better to be lucky than good. ;D

Man, I'm sad I didn't buy a T-shirt the first day. I made the noobie mistake of waiting till the last day, finding out they sold out of my size.  Next year the first thing I'm doing is buying the gawdamn shirt!

That's called extra medium.

I did the same thing my first year. Luckily, they printed more ZC3 shirts and sold them at ZC4. I preordered my ZC4 and ZC6 shirts...
