Just wanted to share a Racing / Flight cockpit I made.
Took the seat from (you guessed it) a 2005 SRT4 was 40 Bucks on local classifieds. Wanted an easy way to move the entire wheel and pedals so I made a sliding mechanism with a toggle lock/latch. The reason why I needed this and not just use the built in slider on the seat is because the flight controls dont move with the seat. Plus this allows for easy break down and storage. Used foam pad for the floor which the pedals are mounted to. I 3d printed some clips that snap onto the PVC and can hold the foam pad. Works better than I was expecting.
To Paint or not to Paint? Would like to maybe red or blue.
3D printed parts:
Flight control mounts (Front and rear to keep the seat even)
Sliding mounts
Toggle lock mount
Floor clips
Wheel Mount
Washers for pedal bolts
Things to add:
Some sort of cord holder for the VR headset.
A couple fans behind or in front of the driver.
A removable front in between the legs mount for the flight stick
But how does it hold up and feel?
It was a little creaky at first but once settled in and glued it feels solid. The flight controls have slight play if used aggressively but not noticeable in game. The Wheel actually feels really good there isnt much play if pulling forward or pushing. The pedals are mounded well and the clips do a really good job holding it all together.
Can this hold PBJ?
Without collapsing yes, but SRT4 seats in general are not comfortable for anyone over 230 lbs
