Mala Game Launching Screen (Help Needed)
« on: August 06, 2017, 05:04:41 pm »
Hey Guys,

I've been trying to edit my Mala game start window to no avail. I looked all over this forum as well as the internet for help and can't find anything. Basically, what I'm seeing when launching  game is a white start window and what I want is a window that matches the color of my layout. I've gone into the layout editor and changed the starting window background color and saved my layout. I checked and made sure the correct path is setup. I can't figure this out for the life of me and am hoping someone knows how to fix this.

The screenshot attached below with the blank window is what I'm actually seeing when launching a game in Mala. The second image is from the Mala layout editor and is how I want the window to look. Any help would be very much appreciated!

Haven't used MaLa in awhile but I know there is a setting for the loading image. I can't remember if it's in MaLa options or the layout editor. Sorry not much help I just saw nobody has replied.

Okay I just launched MaLa. I see an option to display the splash image in Mala options (right-click in the window). It's under "Display". Where the image is located, I'm not sure.

I see under the Game Start/Quit tab that you can set your own fullscreen splash image too.

Hope that helps.

I remember MaLa having some things you have to set up right to make it all work or images won't show. Setting the correct folder and paths. Well duh, lotta help I am.

Looks like you are aware of all of this though (I deleted a lot of my response). After designing a complete layout for MaLa I just got too frustrated with it and I designed my own frontend. Maybe overkill but I like it.

I liked MaLa okay, but the layout editing was a ---smurfette---.

If you share the layout I can take a look it.
Greetings.

Thank you for your replies! I've been out of town so I haven't had access to my cab. I'll try what DaredevilDave advised and if I still can't figure it out (which I probably won't  :-[) I'll send my layout over to you empardopo. Thanks again!

In Mala itself you have to select the option to "load full image."
I don't recall the exact wording. I think somewhere in my thread I've posted a screen shot.
But they do have an option to load an IMAGE -- full size.
You'd need to select that.

Thanks for the reply, Mike! I've opted to not use the full image and to instead use the Mala starting window. Currently the "Use fullscreen starting picture..." box is unchecked in Mala options. What I'm using can be found under the Layout tab when in the Mala layout editor. Clicking on this link gives you the option to edit the starting window's text and color. When I save this, open Mala, and start a game the starting window is blank for some reason :'(.

I got it working so no need to reply! Just needed to use a PNG image of the background color I wanted to use, move into my layouts folder, and load the background image.
