Finally picked up a Wavebird
« on: September 08, 2019, 01:22:50 pm »
I picked up a pristine used Wavebird for 45 bucks yesterday and so far it totally lives up to the hype. Never tried one before, but I can't detect lag and the controls feel identical to the original GameCube pads. The only nitpick is the on/off switch, because we might accidentally leave it on after playing. The LED light is prominent, though, so hopefully it won't be a problem.

Totally worth it to get rid of yet another mess of wires.

Well they have one glaring issue... no rumble.  That's the reason that a lot of people actually prefer third party wireless controllers at this point.

I don't miss the rumble, but what 3rd party GC controllers do people prefer?

I couldn't tell ya... haven't messed with gamecube stuff in years and I only had the wavebird myself.  I just know that by the Wii generation companies were starting to make wireless clone pads for the gamecube.
