As I recall the original movie had little in common with the book so they are free to do whatever they want with this franchise IMHO. --- Quote from: Howard_Casto on July 16, 2017, 04:36:23 pm ---If you actually watch these films, they have absolutely positively nothing to do with the original POTA movies except for the title. The first one is a rather charming story about an adult son trying to save his father from alheizmer's disease and really just uses the apes as an excuse to tell the tale. It's fantastic. --- End quote --- I agree. The first one would have been a fantastic movie even as a stand-alone. |

--- Quote from: Slippyblade on July 16, 2017, 03:51:03 pm ---Full agreement with Ark on this one. Seriously, if you want a re-make... do Starship Troopers. Not like the original had anything to do with the book. A remake would probably be way more accurate. Maybe. Hopefully... ah, who am I kidding? --- End quote --- Yeah I want to see Sargent Zim with his fangs! I know I am contradicting myself here, but I would like to see a three part movie of Battlefield Earth with Christopher Nolan or Peter Jackson directing. John Travolta's outing was ...unforgivable. |

You want to see a movie where the author inserts himself into the story as a wise professor and defends fascism for 300 pages? Pass. |
Howard_Casto:
Agreed. Starship Troopers isn't supposed to be taken ironically...... Heinlein believes all of that might makes right, civil rights can be ditched for victory, and all enemies in war are automatically monsters b.s. that is laced throughout the film. |

It's surprising how many people didn't notice at the time that Paul Verhoeven's film was meant to be satirical, I mean it wasn't exactly subtle. |
