Xin Mo and Coin Mechanism - confused!
« on: July 09, 2017, 05:44:06 pm »
Hey guys,
I'm trying to wire a coin mechanism to my xin mo and am getting confused as to what I have right vs. wrong.

I've connected the coin mech to the xin mo and in the game controller settings, it is showing mech as mapped to button 9. It also keeps the 9 button lit up as red - see attached image. I found this odd as the other buttons only flash red when a button is actually pushed. The coin mech for player 1 just stays lit up as red. When I actually put a coin through the mech, it will flash once and then return to being red.

Next, when I go into Mame and attempt to configure coin 1 to be mapped to the coin mechanism, I noticed that putting a coin into the mech sets the coin 1 mapping to be "joy 1 button 8" - as per the Xin Mo settings, I expected it to be "joy 1 button 9".

Finally, as you can see in the image "joy 1 button 9" is actually mapped to the Player 1 start; however, back in the xin mo settings, I find that my player 1 start button is mapped to button 10.

I'm at a loss ???! Thank you for any help!!

I wouldn't pay to much notice to the joy numbers.

As for staying red have you got it wired to the normally closed contact instead of normally open?

What coin mech is it?

The fact it inserts a coin in mame when you put a coin in would mean its working??

I have this coin mech:

Could you clarify what you mean by having wired it to the normally closed contact vs normally open? I only have 2 wires going to the coin mech switch, a ground and then the wiring to the xin mo.

In Mame, when assigning a mapping to the coin 1, putting a coin in the mech will assign "joy 1 button 8". However, when saving and returning to the game, putting a coin in won't actually perform the insert coin function (just will not do anything). I'm assuming this has to do with the fact that the red is staying "lit" in xin mo controller settings.

Thats the door not a mech :p

Some mechs are fitted with a no/nc switch.

If you put the wire on the nc contact it will be permanently closed unless a coin activates it then it will temporarily open.

Whoops, well it would help if I got the terminology correct, yes I'm working with a coin door.

Here is a picture of how its setup now (causing the xin mo button light to stay red/lit up).

I couldn't tell from your last comment if it's supposed to stay red or not. All the other buttons flash red briefly when I press them, the coin door is the only one that stays lit up as red.

Yeah thats wired to the nc I think cant quite make it out on your pic!

Try changing the right hand wire onto the right hand terminal.
