kill_one ,
how did you install it ..
I'm getting mad
shiryu55 first download EcoTUIODriver from github:
https://github.com/ecologylab/EcoTUIODriver

Extract the zipped file into a folder.

Open the "EcoTUIODriver" directory and then open the "Driver" folder.
Open the "x64-Driver-Installers" folder.
First run the "Installvmulti1" file and then the "Installvmulti2" file.

Download the "Gunguncon2" software:
https://yadi.sk/d/YZBrP4zo3NeYFm
connect your guncon2 to an usb port (no driver found, question mark in the device manager)
open a cmd in administrator
go to x64/redist
launch "1-install driver.bat"
accept driver installation (driver are not signed)
you must see : install completed successfully
launch "2-install device.bat"
accept driver installation (driver are not signed)
you must see : install completed successfully
copy wdapi1200.dll (159ko) to your windows/system32 directory
copy wdapi1200_32.dll (148ko) to your windows/syswow64 directory and rename it to "wdapi1200.dll"
if you don't do that, you will have a 0xc000007b error
(note: to uninstall, launch "uninstall device-1.bat" and after, "uninstall driver-2.bat")
you can verify in the device manager that all is ok like the screenshot I made
launch the gungun.exe

using gungun.exe (very simple)
the fist time you launch the application, you must see
resolution x and resolution y filled with your screen resolution and xmin, xmax, ymin, ymax set to 0. If you have nothing, the driver isn't well installed
you need now to click on the calibration button
move your gun on each side of your crt to set the minimum and maximum values on x and y
then click START on your gun to terminate calibration mode

Hello,
New version v0.16 online
this one use virtual device and allows 2 guns
read the readme for more info (and the readme first)
not perfect and no so easy to install but not too bad, I think
same link as above

++

hello white_ghost congratulations for the excellent job ... I wanted to know when or if you will release a new version of the driver because on my cab 15khz 640x480 I have a problem: when I reach the top left corner the gun signal stops, I have a compatible guncon 2. Thanks so much :)

Problems like losing tracking at the screen edges is usually not driver related. It's almost always a hardware problem (like old worn out photo diodes or caps that need replacing, or a dirty lens etc) or a monitor that is not bright enough or one that needs degaussing.

I've tried a lot of different Guncon 2 models and almost all of the 3rd party devices are garbage. Make sure you start with a working one. If you can't make it work right on a PS2, it won't work with a PC either.

Try increasing the contrast on the monitor and if necessary, change the color balance a little (more blue, less red). Degauss the monitor -especially if you notice any dark patches on white or beige screens.

Try cleaning the lens (on both sides). If none of that works you can try replacing the sensor (photo diode) with a new one from Betson (or buy a new GC2).

Don't worry about the extreme corners as most light gun games are somewhat designed around the limitations of the tech. It's only an issue if it stops you playing a game.

also, if possible try it on a different monitor. I definitely experience different levels of performance with some of my monitors.

Man I had some fun getting this running on win 7! I didn't see it mentioned in the instructions anywhere but I also had to turn off driver signing on win7 to get this going. You can do this via the F8 startup menu, then it all just magically worked  ;D

Can anyone recommend a mame config to get guns working? The gun moves my desktop mouse around and clicks no problem, but inside mame the gun isn't detected at all. I've launched point blank, hit TAB to enter config, selected input (this machine) and try to assign gun axis & buttons but nothing happens at all, the game plays fine with my physical mouse  :-\

Click "options" ->
default game options ->
then the "controller mapping tab"

Map lightgun to mouse

Hi! One question:
Does it only work with original guncon2 or with the third party guncon2 too?
I really want to test it but I dont want to break my old configuration without being sure, I dont touch it for years...
Thanks!

I am happy to see many frineds that are still pursueing this.

I have download the white_ghost driver 0.16 version, and manage to install it to win7 64 bit without any issue.

I can successfully calibrate it; and I have to see, it is very accurate.

BUT.....

It stucks every a few seconds or minutes.

And when that happens, my own keyboard or mouse also go crazy and I have to reboot the computer to fix it.

Does any of you have the same issue?

By the way, the buttons don't work for me either. Nothing happens on triggering.

Any help appriciated.

Thanks a lot!

Hi, nice program. I have a pair of GCON2 and I wish to use them with mame.

Is there any chance to get GUNGUN.EXE working on XP?

Hi josete2k, have you got it working on any platform? If you can make it work on win7/10, I think you can use it on any platform, worst case, you can install a vm and install xp inside?

I installed W7X64 but I had same issue than zgxlogic and as I have tearing on daphne, slowdowns on moderns mame and other issues like the need to start with f8 for unsigned drivers I went back to XP.

But I can't launch gungun.exe as it's a non win32 app

Sorry to hear that, the author white_ghost is still around it seems. Hope at some point he can give us an updated version. For now, we can only hope that someone who has used this before can chip in and help us.

An update on my case: I have finally made my case work, so I want to note here, just in case someone has the simular situation.

(1) "Gun works fine in the beggining, but stops working after a while" is usb driver issue not specific to this gun driver (I have tested pyusb driver, had the same issue).

(2) I have made it work by:
      a) switching to another computer (I guess something related with motherboard).
      b) connect goncun to a usb 2.0 point (3.0 desn't work well for my case).
      c) removing wireless usb keyboard and mouse (it seems conflict with my wireless keyboard and mouse).

I can only make it work by doing all three together (on windows 7 64 bit) .

Disabling driver signature is not needed and does not help in my case.

Hope this helps with people with similar issues.

Hi guys,
I am getting a system error when opening Guncon.exe:
The program can’t start because mfc140u.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix the problem.

Well I have this driver installed. I have followed guide to install it by installing the Visual Basic redistributable but still getting the error. Can anyone help?
Many thanks,
Tom

What's up,

So I did fix that problem Callaghan173 was having by not only installing the VB redistributable but also installing Windows 7 SP1. I had not because it wasnt giving me trouble until then. Now the Guncon application opens but closes INSTANTLY. It shows up for a fraction of a second before disappearing. I tried reinstalling but it did nothing. When installing the drivers it said it had installed successfully.

I really have no clue what is going on, not even an error message window is popping up. If anyone has a solution that would be great because I dont get this working the gun would have been a waste of money.

Hi josete2k, how did it go?

I have verified on another computer that it worked fine (windows 7 64 bit) until I plug in that damn wireless mouse-keyboard, everything suddenly stopped working, I think the driver for the wireless mouse somehow conflict with the guncon driver.

I fixed my issue with the missing driver by installing the Visual C++ redistributable for visual studio 2015. And update for universal C runtime in Windows. Got it working now but the trigger is a bit intermittent.

Anyone uses the guncon in linux?
Ive compiled the lcdtopgun driver. It works. Kind of.
My testings with a original and a clone gun:

original in 480i, vertical works, horizontal have rolling problem.
original in 480p, vertical works, horizontal reports nothing.

clone in 480i, vertical and horizontal works. but horizontal values are not correct (needs calibration or change values in driver)
clone in 480p, vertical works, horizontal have rolling problem.

What exactly causes the "rolling X" problem? This not happens if using it on a original console. The game handles the problem? The game configure the gun in some way?

There is a solution to this, you need to download this tool: https://www.ngohq.com/driver-signature-enforcement-overrider.html - enable test mode and remove the watermark then after you have installed the driver, use the tool to sign the file c:\windows\system32\drivers\gunguncon2.sys. Reboot and you should have no more warnings against the devices and the gun calibration tool will work.
