Finished Street Fighter 2 Champion Edition machine
« on: June 11, 2017, 08:59:18 am »
Here's the finished Street Fighter 2 machine I've been working on the past couple of months. I got the cabinet with no monitor or artwork , still had the power supply, speakers and the marquee light worked.

Installed a sony trinitron 29 inch screen that I decased and was able to wire the tv's sound into the original arcade speakers. Also has a sub in the cab .

Has a pc inside running hyperspin , made some custom intro's  and added music to them.

Has an IPAC2 and did a xbox usb controller hack to make the arcade controls work good with games on steam.

Hooked it up to a projector for games nights.

Here's a link to the finished product.

Another game is always a good game :) Any details about how you hooked up the TV and the projector?

I used a hdmi to vga adapter from the pc , then that plugs into a vga to cga converter board which I have the tv hooked up to via s-video . For the projector I ran an extra vga cable to it . The vga to cga converter board has s-video , vga and composite video outputs that you can run simultaneously.

Really love the transformation to fully original outside with brand new insides. :applaud:

Small thing though, why did you not use a graphics card with DVI output? That connector also contains VGA and would have saved you a step in the processing chain.

That seems to be a lot of unnecessary video conversion. I don't know how much lag that will create.

I haven't really noticed much lag , I'm able to play games like tekken 7 , mortal kombat 9, 10 , dead or alive 5 , street fighter 4,5 and all older mame games pretty smoothly . Hasn't been an issue that I've noticed affecting the gameplay atm.

Thanks for the reply with details. Must admit that I'm a bit surprised that you still get that good picture with that process. I was sure you had something with ArcadeVGA or GroovyMame... Interesting.

Here's a photo of the decased Sony 29 inch tv . Wasn't very difficult to decase and mount . I have pretty much no experience in decasing tv's, so it was a learn as you go experience . Just had to make sure all the wires and plugs were connected after I had mounted it inside the cabinet . Also connected the arcade machines speakers to the speaker wire inside the tv . This allows the game volume to be adjust easily .

Here's a more in depth video of the work I did to the machine.
