Logitech Formula RX wheel not working with M2 emulator.
« on: May 31, 2017, 07:25:31 am »
Hi all, I found this old Logitech Formula RX wheel and I am trying to use it for playing the driving games in Sega m2 emulator (mostly Daytona and Sega Rally). In Logitech profiler (version 4.60.349) seems to work just fine including force feedback. Calibration is complete and I can see the wheel responding properly in the Logitech Formula Force RX Properties when I turn it left or right.

In Daytona for example the wheel's force feedback responds correctly in the Drive BD Test. However inside the game wheel is not responding at all.

Anybody knows what else should I do to make the wheel work with m2 emulator?

Make sure xinput is not enabled.

Post your emulator config file.

Have you ticked the boxes and correctly configured the X-Axis and acceleration and brake pedals in the game's drop down config menu? It needs to be individually configured for each game.

Ah thanks MrThunderwing the X-Axis in the m2 was the issue. I had to revert the acceleration and brake because ingame were reverted. Now the wheel works fine. As I expected force feedback is nowhere near the arcade version. In fact if I hold the wheel with both of my hands most of the times I don't evel feel it. Yes I know, with a single low volt motor you can't have miracles.

Perhaps if I get an expensive wheel like Logitech G25 (has 2 ff motors) then force feedback would be a bit stronger? Not sure if worth the extra money.

Try changing the force feedback settings in the config file:
http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,134688.msg1389593.html#msg1389593
The default settings are pretty weak.

EDIT: You may also be able to increase the force in the windows controller settings.  (do both!)

In Logitech profiler every force feedback setting is set up to 150%. In the config file of emulator everything is set to 10% (can it get higher than 10?) Well force feedback works but it is miles away from the arcade.

Here I made a custom wooden adapter connecting the Logitech wheel base with the Sega's shaft. I think force feedback is the same, there but not strong at all. I guess ff would be stronger with a wheel with 2 motors right?

Since Logitech wheel uses a 24v 0.75a power supply, I am thinking about replacing it with a 24v 3a with a simple protective circuit not to damage the Logitech's pcb. I assume that this will give a very small upgrade to the force feedback motor. Not sure if it's worth it though.
