BIOS password for NSM icon

I'm trying to repurpose an NSM Icon I received. It boots up but the drive is missing. I can't change the boot order or anything for that matter in BIOS because there is a password. It is Phoenix AwardBios. Anyone know what they may have used?

I was thinking about just using a different motherboard but the screen is using an LVDS connector so I'd rather try to keep the original mobo first.

Does the touchscreen go through LVDS?

IIRC There is usually a jumper or dip switch on the MOBO to clear the BIOS password. Also some BIOS manufacturer put a backdoor password in BIOS which always works irrespective of what password you have set in BIOS. Its a master password which is used for testing and troubleshooting purposes. If that dos not work - try removing the CMOS battery for about an hour -reinsert and boot (should clear CMOS including password)

your password is kept in a pic chip on the mother boad
it is  a small 8pin chip
normally they stat with :at or sp or m "
take a real good picture of your motherboard and post it
i will be better able to tell u

I tried getting a good pic.

Clearing CMOS, removing battery and unplugged for 24 hours, common passwords did nothing. It's still there.

from what i can see u have a up-dated board
it dose not have the 8 pin chip that i can see
i am thinking from your picture,u may have to jtag that board?
also u have a few blown caps there
right at the power connector (there swelled)

Is it possible to replace with a different motherboard with LVDS? I'm not that familiar with how LVDS works. Does the touchscreen go through there also or somewhere else?
Any way to convert to VGA/DVI, etc?

I saw some same motherboards on ebay for cheap. Maybe get lucky and replace. I would love something with SATA but don't want to replace the screen if I can keep it and get the touchscreen working.

you should probably swap out those blown caps. otherwise the regulators on the board are going to crap out and it will become a paperweight even if you replace the caps.

oh, also your bios chip is the "SST" socketed chip on the top right hand side of your pic. looks to be a 39SF020A flash memory chip.

your best bet is to go to the manufacturer's website and download a BIOS update for it and do what you need to do to flash it (usually boot with a disk or some junk.)

flashing the bios with a fresh image (even if it's the same version) often has the pleasant result of clearing out everything including BIOS password.

I'm not sure about your touchscreen. i doubt it connects the touch via LVDS since that is solely video, but they may have rolled it into a custom connector. but it likely just connects via serial or USB on an internal header.

in any case, there are plenty of LVDS drivers available on ebay that will convert the screen to VGA or HDMI or whatever you want. just search up "LVDS adapter" you'll have to find out how many pins the LVDS on the panel has. (often 30)

I tried many options and my last resort was freedos. I tried flashing the BIOS through it and now it's bricked. I have another mobo on the way, also an LVDS kit like you mentioned. The touchscreen goes through com and I did re-pin the connector and got the driver to work. I may go that route so I can use an updated motherboard and get the connections/support I want.

The LVDS adapter should be here Monday! $23, I couldn't complain.
