I picked one of these up and to my surprise are quite good.  Not bad for $17.

They used to be a lot cheaper than that.

If I remember correctly, they're just passive adapters as the Dreamcast supports VGA natively.

And yes, VGA on the Dreamcast does indeed look excellent.

I have that particular cable, though I bought it on ebay.  Works great.

Here is the thing about the dreamcast and vga.....  some games only support svideo and some games have cut scenes that only run in svideo.  So the more expensive adapters often also have a s-vid out.  That is what you are paying for essentially.  So it might be worth it to you if you are a big fan of dino crisis or some of the afflicted games.

You just patch the disc and all games play VGA.

Even with the patch some games don't play nice with vga.  Dino Crisis, for example, will only output the fmv sequences in svid.

Nope no rules are broken when you are patching games that you own, that you copied from GDROM.  Check out the video here:  http://tinyurl.com/mysyat9

Well if you dont click on the links then you won't be breaking any rules, besides its an old site and those Rom links are dead anyway.  The patching video is there, you just have to look for it....carefully.   ::)  You have been warned.
