Metal Fabrication in Los Angeles Area?
« on: May 23, 2017, 07:57:37 pm »
Hi All,

Can anyone recommend a metal fabricator in the LA area to help make a blank aluminum control panel for a sega gremlin cabinet? I don't know if I'm looking in all the wrong places, but I'm striking out with fairly insane price quotes. Any pointing in the right direction would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

EDIT: Realizing this should probably be in Buy/Sell/Trade. Apologies. Mods feel free to move.

I don't have a recommendation, but what are the quotes coming in at? I would guess around $200 for one piece.

You might be able to get it a little cheaper by getting it cut on a water jet, then paying someone else to bend it. That would be a pretty quick cut, so you might be able to get that part done for maybe $50 - $75? Bending could be fairly cheap, but getting it right the first try could be tricky, especially if you don't have an example piece.

You may want to talk to Takeman on klov as well. He has done quite a few runs of control panels, and may be able to get it done cheaper than you can. He may even be able to do a small run of them if there is enough interest to sell them. He seems to be the expert in the metal piece reproduction game.
