WTB TV adjustment tools?
« on: May 22, 2017, 12:42:08 pm »
Hi guys,

I've bought a couple of crappy TV adjustments tools in my day and I'm finally looking for a proper set.  Anyone have any links?  I tried the Amazon route and came up with these...  I ordered both and they are not cutting it.

These are garbage:
https://www.amazon.com/Philmore-Anti-Static-Alignment-Trimmer-63-910/dp/B00K3VS7TM/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1495469779&sr=8-2&keywords=tv+adjustment+tool

Believer it or not, these ceramic ones were better, but I'm looking for specific ones just for TV's:
https://www.amazon.com/REAMTOP-Slotted-Ceramic-Alignment-Screwdriver/dp/B06XGF8Q8Q/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1495470886&sr=8-2&keywords=ceramic+alignment+tool

These look OK but I was curious what you guys prefer as a kit?

Thanks in advance!

the last 1 frys is the perfered kit for most techs
because of the small meat tips
be warend from the start if u have a stuck coil
u will strip them real fast
if u need i will round up the best (which i went to after a few years)
but they are a tad pricey

Shipping something from the U.S. to Canada for repair/exchange?  Please use USPS to avoid (additional?/excessive?) shipping charges.  PM me if you have any questions.

I start with a metal tool (powered off first of course)  to make sure it's loosened up, then use the plastic tools.

I just turn it 1/4 turn one direction, then 1/2 turn back... then 1/4 forward again (to end up where i started.) the adjustment slugs are often melted into the plastic a bit and need to be released.

The plastic tools work great after that, power it up and adjust away.

Now THAT'S a pro tip!!

GC Electronics makes the best ones and have the best sets of kits:

http://www.gcelectronics.com/order/SubCatPDF/alignment%20tools%20Kits%20380-387.pdf

GC Electronics tool # 8606-L is the only one I use on ALL makes/models of arcade monitors. One end has a hex tip that fits width coils and the other end is a straight slot tip for turning trimpots. Plus it's plenty long to get your hands away from the high voltage wire when adjusting the width coil on a K7000.

This place sells the tool for only $1.50:

https://www.onlinecomponents.com/gc-electronics-8606l.html?p=11424375

It's on ebay too:
