Hi guys, a few years ago the state of the art was the g3258 oc to 4ghz for mame builds.
Is this cpu still a good choice?
Looking at the current lineup of cpu's its looking kinda bad for a good budget build.
Right now I'm looking at two possible candidates
core i3 7320 with 4.1 ghz for 170 euros (a really bad value cpu for what you get)
core i5 7600k with 4.2 ghz turbo for 250 bucks (probably better value for its money)
I'd love to have a mini itx build in the style of the groovycube
http://wavebeam.blogspot.co.at/2016/02/the-groovycube-diy-console-that-plays.htmlThe most important thing for me is zero input lag. So this thing should be mainly for shmups, fighting, and some 3d games
(battle garegga, bakraid, salamander 2, some cave games, aero fighters 3, killer instinct 2, garou)
and some 3d games.
After reading through the different threads I assume that the best I can get would be
d3d9x with frame_delay 9
as for the monitors...I think I would connect a 15khz crt or a vga 31khz with 120hz and black frame insertion,
but I think the second one wouldn't allow the cpu to handle frame_delay 9 ^^.
Would the i5 be any better in some cases since I think that mame does only use 2 cores most of the time !?
Does anyone know how a overclocked g3258 to idk 4.5 ghz would compare to the i3 7320 ?
And what about 3d games with the i3 7320, like gauntlet legends etc, does anyone have a similar setup ?
What builds do you guys have and how do they perform in terms of input lag?
Looking forward to any tips and suggestions
Thank you!
